On regular brands (honda, kawi... etc.) it is the 8th letter/number from the back or the 10th from the front. Im not sure about the chinese bikes, but going on that, it would be an '03 on the vin you posted. 2001 and up are numbers, 2000 and down are letters, 2000 being a Y and it going back up the alphabet from there but it skips a few letters because they look like numbers. If you need older letter years, you can find a chart online pretty easy. Hope this helps!

Confyushus, you the man! I've checked the VINs on my other bikes and so far the 8th from the back is indeed the year. thumbs up man

well, mine's an 04 model year ( on title) and the 10th or 8th digit from the end is still a "3" but by car standards if somethign was manufactured after august of teh production year it is stamped and titled as the next year... i.e. if your car was manufactured in november 04 it would be sold/badged as an 05 model

8th from the front is greed/red sticker for offroad bikes. if its an 3 or a C its a red sticker. anything else on the 8th and its a green

The LPP WMI tells me the bike is is manufactured by the following:

Jaingzi Hongdu

Unfortunately, that's a copy of a copy of a copy or a parts bin special.

LOL Thank you sir.
I was going to ask you but I thought I'd start off here before bugging you. Doesn't hurt to try and get it registered. So we'll see how that goes. If not then parts bin special it is.
Anyone need parts? haha!

Jincheng manufactures there own engines, they do not source from Lifan.

yea,,..the engravings are on the ignition cover

the first 4 of the frame are = LJAP
the first 4 of the motor are ADDD
any ideas... bought it new called a jincheng JC50Q*-9 on the seat it says "LYNX 50"

have to check tonight, does not look like a genuine JC bike. might be put together from different parts......

weird... it came witha jincheng owners manual and the MSO labels Jincheng as the manufacturere adn the #'s match on the MSO .....and the only weird part is i can't find it's exact model in any jincheng listings on the 'net, closest model number i can find is JCQ50-7 or something like that... however i've seen 3 others the exact same bikes all albeled jincheng ,and these were in other states far away from me...there were 3 more exactly like mine at the dealer when i got it too.... not that it will bother me. i know we own it legally, honda parts from 81 and older fit the motor it's a 6v CDI and runs great...that's all i ask of it

The bike isn't manufactured by Jincheng. If you do a WMI search for LJA, you'll find the following:

Manufacturer NameNanjing Special Auto Manfacturing & AsseWMILJA/ AddressNo. 88 Xiawuying Jiagang
Zhonghuamenwai, 210012 Nanjing City 210012
China
Product TypeSpecial Vehicle, Truck, TrailerDate06 Apr, 1999

If you do a WMI search for Jincheng LJC, it comes up with the following:

Manufacturer NameJINCHENG CORPORATIONWMILJCAddress518 EAST ZHONGSHAN RD.
NANJING, 210002
Product TypeMOTORCYCLEModelLetter Date08/20/2006
Manufacturer NameJINCHENG GROUP IMP. & EXP. CO., LTD.WMILJCAddress518 EAST ZHONGSHAN ROAD
NANJING,
Product TypeMOTORCYCLEModelLetter Date06/03/2004

Turboglenn,

What this tells me is you also have a parts bin special as it has Jincheng parts, but is made by another assembly company using parts from various manufacturers.
