| here is my find......
$70 bucks for the "junk" in the bed of my truck. My wife just laughed and told me if I see you riding that thing i will laugh at you. I feel the love. .......... thought I would see what crf50 parts fit. haha. This is a totally low budget build. |

Nice. I'll be interested to see what you come up with with that rear swingarm. When your wife (or anyone else, really) laughs at you for what you ride, I think it's a sign that you're onto something good. My wife laughs at me when I ride around. You have to figure that it shows you're doing your own thing, as opposed to, say, spending a lot of money for something with a big V-twin in it, picking out a bunch of chrome stuff from a catalog to show that you're an individual, then picking out a bunch of black V-twin-related fashion accessories to show you're even more of an individual, then going out on rides with a bunch of other individuals, all dolled up. Riding something that makes people laugh is even more individual than all of that. |

The way you have the crf50 swing arm on there it looks like it could either end up as a hard tail ct70 or figure out a hidden shock set up. Maybe try some spacers on the front to see if you can mount your crf50 wheel on the ct70 forks you might have to fab a bracket of somesort for the brakes. currently the body rests on the shock mount of the swing arm. I was thinking of cutting a hole so the shock can poke through and make a mount where the gas tank once was (currently need one) to mount the shock to. but will the ct70 be under braked using crf50 drums?

crf50 drums should stop a ct70 just fine, but if you plan on building a monster engine I would go for disk up front

no monster engine for now. I have my 88 race head with a 4 speed and clutch on the crf50. i'll toss that bad boy in there. side note - my 88 race head engine has been built for 4 years now. used really hard for the first 2 years and slowly less hours on it. sitting for 6 months or so now. I rode it last week end and man it has no power like it used to. I figure the rings are shot but no blue smoke out the tail pipe. I pulled the head and bore off and gaskets were not leaking. maybe valves leaking? I put gas in the bowl of the head upside down, by morning it was gone. does that mean I have a tiny leak?looks fine other then all the carbon build up. aany other ideas? last few times I rode it it had less and less power. 2nd gear had no pop. It also has a crower cam in it. |

I said, "...you're doing your own thing, as opposed to, say, spending a lot of money for something with a big V-twin in it, picking out a bunch of chrome stuff from a catalog to show that you're an individual, then picking out a bunch of black V-twin-related fashion accessories to show you're even more of an individual, then going out on rides with a bunch of other individuals, all dolled up." I was trying to be funny there, and looking at it now it seems more critical than I intended. I apologize if it seemed out of line. I like all motorcycles, large V-twins included. Especially large V-twins with oil leaks and road grime. |
