Hey guys, After riding the 108 and 117 motors in my monkey, I've noticed that after around 50mph, maybe 55+ I get this scary wobble in my handlebars which keeps me from going any faster. Do you guys think replacing those ball bearings in the tube out for some tappered bearings will fix this or perhaps balancing my wheels will do the trick? |

Better chance of curing the problem by balancing wheels than putting tapered bearing in.

I've never experienced wobble on my bikes at speed even though I can get them in the 80's. Obviously check the basics...the nuts are all tight and your stem nut and bearings have not slop in them. Tapered bearings won't matter on this one. The next thing is to check your swingarm bolt and bushings for play and your shock bushings for play. That will make any small movement be more exaggerated at speed. A few other things to check. Tire pressure. Get those puppies up to 35-40lbs. Finally, make sure that the tires are well seated all around and are having no major wobbles observed when you rotate them while on a stand. After all that, then go get those suckers balanced. |

Static balance your wheels, make sure your swingarm bushings arn't shot, Tighten your triples correct to the head tube so there is no play, and have some good damping in your forks. The most important in that list is the balanced wheels. |

Tighten your trips. Make sure the wheels are true, check all bushings/bearings.

my buddy sold his r1 endurance race bike at the end of the season to a street guy. guy complained of shimmy at 120. turned out to be tires that were worn in the center only from straight line riding.... brad would never have this problem....
