Honda K0 - QA50

So I picked myself up a QA50 to compliment my ever growing collection of project mini bikes, all others are Z50A's. It is pretty complete except it is missing the muffer and Rear fender....The guy I got it from said his kid took the muffer off to make it "meaner"........some people! Anyway, does anyone know where I could find a used rear fender for cheap? Cracks are ok as I will be re-doing it completely unless I can get a yellow fender...... But It is nice enough though, that I may try to keep it original and just give it a good spit-shine, it has a few nicks and a tad bit of surface rust from sitting in a dirt floor garage for several years. A lead on a decent muffer would be nice too. It has some compression and spark, I'll know if it runs on Sunday!....I'll try to get pics up tonight.

Aftermarket and Reproduction parts for Honda QA50 K0 K1 K2 K3 plastic fenders, cables, seat cover and foam, tires, brakes, decals QA 50

This is one of the few companies in the USA that caters to the QA50.

If your bike skips in 2nd gear when you get it running, your gearbox is fubared and it's a common problem.

Re: Honda K0 - QA50

I currently have a QA project (ohc swap), and had one when I was younger as well. The trans problem is very common and mine suffered from it. It was years ago and I can't remember how or if I fixed it, but I had it apart a few times. That is the reason that the current bike has a z50 engine about to go in, the 2 speed would not hold up to being my boys' first bike.

EDIT: I just saw in the link Z provided that there is a TSB for the 2nd gear problem.

Re: Honda K0 - QA50

Hey, thanks for the good info, I never had a chance to work on the QA this weekend. I had a class for work I needed to attend. I did howver take the time to tear down a SL70 motor to see what was needed......I need gears, and lots of them.....wow, I still can't believe the bike moved with all the destruction that was in there.
