Re: Huge Honda Auction!

A long time ago I talked to this guy,I had no idea he had this much stuff. At the time about 10 yrs ago,he had high prices and was hoping prices would go higher yet.He lived down in Monmouth Illinois,I wonder what happened to him. Look at the z50 owners manual down towards the bottom of the page. See how the gas tank is painted?

Yep,there are a few of those odd ball manuals out there. Also note the photo on right has the very late production K1 with crossover K2 rear fender and taillight bracket, one on the left doesn't

Re: Huge Honda Auction!

I found an old letter he had sent me in '97-
"I have a '71 z50k2 yellow and white with very low miles for $2500.The Japanese market is very exciting to be part of.I think you'll see even MORE growth over the next 5 to 10 years before things level off!"
I guess he knew what he was doing. I knew another guy in Michigan doing the same thing back then, buying up old dealer stock, but he would turn it around right away instead saving it.Even with this economy, Mr Hawk's return on investment will probably edge out any of our 401K's

Holy eye candy. Sniff.

Catherine Bach, Bassani Pipes endorser? "You won't catch me on anything else?"

Who'da thunk it.

Re: Huge Honda Auction!

Gary Hawk is his name and his prices were ridiculous 10 years ago.

He's probably retiring as they had an auction in December for all of his wife's antiques.

Good luck for those of you going or proxy bidding.
