So I want a motarded style rear end on a z50 clone. 1) Whats the cheapest set up for this?2)What rear swing arms are easiest to use? With out alot of modification? 3) I would like to run 10 or 12 inch rim and like 4 or 4.5 inch wide if possible. 4) Whats the widest I would be able to go with out much modification to the swimgarm?5) I would also like a motard style front endwhat would fit? So I can start a search and saving for a motard front end to go disk brake. I would like to purchase a used front end.6) What kind of work is needed to fit a dirt mini bike front end on a z50 clone?

might could stay with your original swinger and use a china wheel and some spacers....will have to fabricate a disc caliper mount unless you use a cable operated caliper.....what is the steering stem length on your clone 50? that will tell you if you can use a China front end or not....I have quite a few 33mm conventional China front ends and a 25mm MR50 convetional front end.....you could go USD but then your talking much more money....post pics of the bike...full and close up ones of the front and rear

just measure the steering head length...hat will get me in the ball park....or from the bottom of the lower clamp to the top of the upper clamp

if you are running spoked wheels I would go with either 2.15x12 front and 2.50x12 rear or 2.15x12 f&r. I would keep drum rear to keep everything simple and then just run a nice hydro disc brake up front.
z50, xr50, crf50, cr60, xr70, and crf70 all use the same stem as well as their replica bikes. If you want a cheap setup like I said in the other thread the best bang for your buck is a complete xr70 or similar front end(triples, forks, axle, brake, and wheel) along with an old twin shock xl70/xr80 rear end(swing arm, brake, wheel, axle, and shocks).
Once you have the setup above on your bike you could always upgrade to 12x2.15" rims and some nice tires, but this is the cheapest way I have seen to get your bike riding on spoked wheels with a decent suspension.

I have seen stock XR70 forks for $40, I paid 225 for BBR SP-5's with a cable disc brake setup. The sp-5's are just reworked xr70 forks with billet triples and allow a stock 50 braking plate.
xr70 front wheel with braking plate, axle, and spacers is probably 60-100. I would try to find a complete XR70 front end for $100 if you can. The rear end is a pain to find complete. Normally people want to sell just the swing arm, or just the wheel.
On ebay the swing arm goes for about $25, the rear wheel is 40-50 shipped on ebay, then you will still need the rear shocks, spacer, brake rod, brake arm, brake plate.
Figure $200 if you find a good deal on the front and rear setup. If you find the whole front end for $100, and the whole rear for $100. The most I would pay for everything is $300.

That covers everything to get your bike going on spoked wheels. motard parts get expensive quick. you can easily spend $200 on rims & spokes, then over $100 on tires. New shoes are $15 or you could drop another $600 on a disc front brake conversion. you really need to set a budget and work around the budget to decide what parts you can afford. If you only have $200 you are pretty much stuck with drum brakes. If you can find one, the CR60 has showa forks and nice disc brakes along with a spoked wheel, you might be able to pickup the whole front end off a cr60 for about $250 which will fit right on your bike but they are super hard to find.

thanks i will be keeping an eye on ebay and on the for sale section here. would i be able to just extend my stock swing arm?

It isn't worth it, for $25 shipped you can get a nice xl70/xr80 swing arm in decent shape. you really need the xl70/xr80 style swing arm in order to run the brake arm from the swing arm to the braking plate for spoked wheels. I would definately keep an eye open for the cr60 front end if you want a front disc brake. also, almost any front wheel that fits will be a 10 or 14". the rear rim will probably be a skinny 12".

The CR60 had drum brakes up front, not disc.

Not to be Captain Pedantic; I'm benefiting from your general suspension knowledge here and appreciate the good read--but as far as the swingarms go, you want the XR or XL 75 or 80, not the 70. The XL 70 was set up like an old SL 70 but with a skinnier tank. The XR/XL 75/80 were the vertical cylinder bikes; a swingarm off a twin-shock 75 or 80 is what you want.

There are a couple of threads showing how to fit one of these; I think the most recent is ShapeShifter's "can of whoopass" thread.

Now you've got me thinking about finding some XR70 forks...

What do mean by a "motard style rear end"? A single shock setup?

I have the stock ST90 swinger off of my 'Tard project that I will get rid of cheap..it is a twin shock..I just do not know if it will work for ya on your project without measurements....at least it seems you will not be going completely through a dark tunnel like I have been on my project

just noticed Eddie New yorks baja designs Z front end on a CRF so that makes me say that the convetional disc forks I have will fit your Z...got the whole set-up for cheap..you can add it with the ST swinger...might work

True fact. Not sure why I thought it was disc.
I am 99% sure an xl70 swing arm fits as well. Same mods are required as an XR80 swing arm. pretty much any honda bike where the swing arm mounts to the outside of the frame will fit on with minor mods.

The widest spoked rims that are made are either 2.15" or 2.5".
Only the full aluminum wheels (no spokes) come in 4.0 or 4.5.
You will then need to get a wide-type swingarm and offset sprockets
due to the width of the rim/tire.

I have a 2.5 on the rear of my ST90 'Tard project

the swinger on there is one of those 17.5" egay ones...probably too long for what he is goin to use it for......BIGBLUELOK are you going to do dual shock or mono...mono will be a bit of work......I have Tech 5 aluminum mono swinger that is a +1 I think for CRF50...it is drum brake..pics of it installed on a bike is in my albums on the #65 pitbike
