My Mood: | Im tired...need help, another sprocket
As many of you have been helping me with my 72 ct70HK1 transfer to a lifan 125, and I really appreciate it, but I am still having trouble figuring out the front sprocket, my question is how do I tell if I have a 428 or 420 sprocket, I bought a tec 420 chain, and the only marks on the chain are tec, 420, and 4J. It fits my stock rear sprocket perfectly. I bought the lifan with a 14t 420 sprocket and thought I got a 428 so I contacted the dealer and he sent me another one, that was supposed to be a 15t 420 but the two sprockets I have, the one that came on it and the one that was supposed to fix it are the exact same, so how can I tell if its a 420 or 428???? Thanks in advance, sorry for the long rant. Justin

If it's a 428 sprocket it will be too fat to fit the 420 chain. Does it fit between the side plates of the chain ?

if you mean that the chain fits around the sprocket and fits the sides good but not around the bend then yes

now that I read your post again, about three teeth will fit and then the spacing starts to increase more than the chain links, if that makes since, but yes the teeth do fit between the side plates
