The standard equipment would be a staple gun (air powered would be the easiest way) and a jig you can fasten the seat to to A. keep it in the same shape as it is on the bike, and B. Allow you to stretch the cover, the stretching is the key to not having wrinkles. Not as important on the style of seat you have, but on curved seats, glueing the top of the foam to the cover also helps eliminate the wrinkles.

A staple gun won't do squat. The 1986 Z50R has a metal pan. You should be able to do it with just a pair or pliers and a flat blade screwdriver. The '79-'87 style seat pan has bendable pointed tabs that you pierce through the cover and then bend down to hold it in place.

Don't forget to leave the seat cover out in the sun for an hour or so. This will make it alot more flexible so you can stretch it tight.
