| Intake Insulator / Heat Stop
I have been looking at alot of bike pics posted on here and I have a question about the intake insulator. Why do some put it between the carb and manifold and others have it between the manifold and the engine. Is there any benefit for having it in a particular place? Where is the correct place this should be installed?

i would say that it should be installed between the manifold and the head, to keep the manifold from heating up.

You are probably seeing pics of the TB carb, yes the heatsheild goes between the head and the intake. Maybe the other ones you are seeing are really just rubber boot mounted carbs that look like a heatsheild kinda? |

the factory phenolic spacer ( tech name for it) was between the carb and intake. having it between the head and intake is better as it keeps more of the intake tract cooler allowing the air to stay cool and more dense on it's journey into the combustion chamber. also helps the carb from getting so hot that it boils fuel. cooler is better when it comes to the air and fuel going in the engine |
