| introduction...new to classics.
hello planet minis forum! i have had a few 50s and all of them have been newer, 03 and up. i plated them but my last one i sold about 6 months ago and bought a drz400sm, love that bike but REALLY miss my mini! so i want to build another one and have it street legalized aswell. BUT heres my questions... where i live there is two bikes i am contemplating. one is a ct70 all stock and comes with a doner bike the other is an 82 z50r. which one should i get? does the z50r come with a stator or will i have to install one and all the wiring etc( not worried about it however) also what is the differnce between a monkey bike EX.(like a gorilla) and a regular z50r? just lights? THANKS in advance for any replies!

the CT doesnt have a title but with a bill of sale and the right lights you can pretty much insure anything here. would the z50R have a stator? any imput would help.

The z50r doesn't have a lighting stator.

If you get the stator coils from a 1979 or earlier Z50R you can put the coils in and have the leads for a lighting coil. With a basic knowledge of wiring, you can do it easily. I'm 15 years old. And now my 1984 Z50R has a lighting coil with three leads. I don't have anything hooked up to it, but i still have the lighting coil.

Yeah. I've always liked to work on things. I started taking apart my little Huffy bicycle when I was in 1st grade. I bought another bicycle at a yard sale for $5 and swapped all the best parts onto the better frame. I loved working in the garage. Now I just moved onto smaller but faster and more expensive bikes.

I just put a new stator with a lighting coil on my 99 z50R, and wired up a head light and tail light. It was pretty easy. You will need a fly wheel puller. They aren't expensive. arlindsay, good for you. I honestly thought you were a lot older |
