I recently picked up a 79 Z50 with a jincheng motor in it. This is my first voyage into Z50's (previously worked with YSR's) so please correct me if i'm wrong. I'm assuming the Jincheng motor does not have points, so I need a CDI. Unfortunately the motor did not come with a CDI, can I use one of a CFR50 or another model? Thanks for the help!

You are better off going with this. Since the jincheng engine believe it or not is the only knockoff engine that does not work well with honda parts. I tried putting a xr/crf 50 z50 shifter on and it didn't fit put it on a xr/50 and it fit so you are better off getting this save the money this comes with everything you need.

Just look to see if it has one connector for the cdi or 2 connectors. If it has one then it is the china style cdi. If 2 then it's the Honda style. I have a BBR and TB rev box I will sell that are of course Honda style but I have one of the china style ones here too. That cheap thing I would send you for free though.

This is what my wiring setup looks like coming from the stator

Black
Yellow
White
Yellow/Red
White/Red
Green/White

Also can I use the stock Ignition coil? I'm assuming I can.

Here is a fellow with a wiring harness, as well as most of the little electrical bits for a decent price. You may want to see if DR ATV has what you need if that does not work.

Do you have a harness at all? We don't need to see what's coming out of the engine to determine which cdi it has. But, if the harness matches what is coming out of the engine then it's going to need a china cdi.
