| just got a 1995 z50 for free, want to turn it into a dirt beast..............
well, i just got a 1995 z50 for free. i was talking to some kid in school about my old mini a couple years ago, and he said he wished he still had his. it turns out that he was riding it w/o the stator on, and a stick got caught up in the stator and broke off the timing. it was a 107cc tb. engine that his uncle built for him and gave to him. after that broke he lent it to a kid that said they could fix it and they stole the head, cylinder, carb, and intake off of it. so he said i can have it if i want.so i said sure, why the hell not? anyways, i get it tommarow and he's telling me its pretty beat, he said a fat kid was riding it and landed off a jump and one of the shocks just popped off....lol, and that everything else is fine.so since the engine is missing half of it, and the stator is broken, i think im just going to get a new engine. i was thinking maybe a gpx since i use to have one in my xr50, and had good luck with it. i dont have the money to build a super honda engine, so for now, i want the most power for my money, thats why i think im going to go with a gpx. next, i want a new rear swingarm and shocks, not sure on where to go here, was thinking i want to get an extended one, but not sure where to get one at, and as for shocks i have no clue. then, the tires and rims are going to be replaced, i was looking at the chrome rims on ebay with the hub's, has anyone used these or not? im not sure about the forks, should i just get plus ones or are there other good forks out there that will still let me use the z tires/rim. or since i want to ride this thing hard should i just go with a crf front end? do you guys think a minigunz pipe will fit a gpx, if so i plan on going that route unless you guys reccommend another pipe? i want the bike to be loud because im only going to be using it at the track, and i want it to sound intimidating.....lol. does this sound good? if not what do you guys think i should do vto make my new z a dirt beast? |

if you run the gpx you'll run into exhaust fitment issues as the gpx has a longer cylinder. roll with what you have and buy parts as you can.

well, the stator isnt the only problem, i think the whole bottom end is rusted out, the kickstarter gears are stripped i think, and it has no cylinder, so i dont see the point in trying to repair that. is there anyway to work around the gpx issues w/o it being a huge hassle?

No. TB parts use the stock height cylinder. All the displacement comes from the crank and the bore of the cylinder. Cylinder height is the same in all TB parts for 50s.
