| K2 vs. K1 front fender....any difference ?
I need a new OEM front fender for my K2 restoration. I may be wrong on this, but from what I can find online, it seems that a new OEM K2 front fender (part number 61100-045-671XW ) is hard to find or no longer available. I've seen several sites that have OEM K1 front fenders (part number 61100-045-670XW). It states that this fender "will work on a K2". Is there any difference between these two items ? Is the "real" OEM K2 fender still available ? 3cylturbo, I know you're in the middle of a K2 restoration - which fender are you using ? Thanks, Resto |

The above fender is a K1 fender. There is quite a difference in the K2 fender. It is longer ,like the K2 rear is also longer, mounting bracket is different. No longer available. Hard to find item. Check ebay. The lower exhaust guard is also different on the K2. K1 is solid. K2 has slots in it. Also not available and extremely hard to find. Will pay top $ on ebay for one.

Best deal I found is $95 for OEM K1 front & rear, or $40/$60 separate. Z54K FENDER SET K1 $95.00 http://www.hondaminitrail.com/z50.html not much more than rusty ebayers Lots of other hard to find parts in one place too, makes a difference on shipping! getting my final order ready today. I'm using K1's on my K2 custom, just don't like that big ugly rear fender on the K2's cheers Last edited by Hardtail; 12-15-2006 at 10:01 AM. |

Thanks to everyone for all the input on this question. I figured there was a difference in fenders due to the varying part numbers and the fact that the K2 fender didn't seem to be available anywhere. I will order the K1 fender and make do with it. Razzo, I just got my original K2 rear fender, slotted lower exhaust guard, upper exhaust guard, header pipe, muffler, diffuser, rear brake pedal, kickstart pedal and gearshift pedal back from the chrome platers. Luckily, all were in excellent useable condition - so they took plating very well. Also, had my aluminum upper triple clamp and brake backing plates polished at the same time. dirtbkr188, The originality of this resto should earn high marks on the "Qwokie Scale". Every item (except for repop gray cables from CHP) is original -replated or painted basecoat/clearcoat.....or has been replaced with NOS or OEM parts !! I will start posting pics as soon as I have everything ready for reassembly. Still waiting to paint frame, tank and headlight bucket - plus I need to replace cam chain, freshen the top end and put in new clutch friction discs. My wife and I have a 14-month-old daughter, so my shop time is quite limited at present ! Resto |
