Keihin Carb Fuel Inlet Nipple - z50 k1

Does anyone know if you can remove/replace the fuel inlet nipple on a Keihin carb (stock for Z50 K1)? Is it threaded or press fitted?

Re: Keihin Carb Fuel Inlet Nipple - z50 k1

Update - I heated it up with a torch and it came out easily. I putting into another stock carb that had it missing. I know that I press it in, but should I use any epoxy or sealent when I do it? Any guidance will be appreciated....

I like the epoxy idea. Never tried it, but I've pressed mine in too far once reinstalling the fuel line, which restricts fuel and which gave me a hell of a time figuring out what was wrong. Having some sort of positive location would be good.

How far would say it could/should go in? Now I'm nervous that there isn't a lip to stop it. I can't see that far into it.

I'm not sure; do you have that trash carb with the stuck jet still? Maybe measure how much that one protrudes and scribe a line on the nipple to show what depth to push it in. Failing that, maybe gently bottom it out and then pull it out about one fuel line diameter and see where that leaves you.

(The carb on which that happened to me is still in my shop, but the nipple's long gone. I could measure the protruding part of the nipple (???) on my hardtail later on tonight and post that measurement, I suppose. But it will be a couple of hours before I can do it.

I have one nipple taken from the carb with the stuck jet. Had I known better, I could have scribed a mark - but at that time I wasn't even sure if or how the thing would even come out. Could you do me a favor and measure the length of the exposed nipple on your hardtail carb (when you have time)? As you advised, that could tell me when to stop pressing it. Thanks for all your help!

Sure, I'll try to get you a measurement tomorrow and post it. Kind of shot my garage tinkering window for tonight, unfortunately.
