Lifan 150 Oil Line

I bought a Lifan 150 off fleabay and there are just two bolts on the case at the bottom of the left side cylinder. Shouldn't there be a oil line connection between the two bolts like this one in the picture, that is if your not going to use a oil cooler or do I really need a oil cooler for riding around on the street? It does get pretty hot here in Texas but I will be using 20W50 oil during warm and hot weather. I'll probably rarely see how fast it will go, mostly ride back roads. It will be in a CT70 frame. Let's say it tops out at 55 with stock gearing and I run it at 50 for 10 miles, will it get too hot without a oil coolers? I thought if I had to get one that I would just get one of those cheapo $40 chinese one's like in the other picture or would one of them not be good enough for my purpose?

It's hard to tell by the pic but their should be a dogbone shaped piece that connects the two bolts, that dogbone piece has a small oil passage inside of it so that the oil circulates...

I'm sure that if you just want to cruise around town without hammering the engine you'd be fine running it without a cooler.. But in general, coolers are a good idea..Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt..

My Lifan 150 came with the same oil cooler you have pictured, it didn't fit... The banjo fittings on the engine side of the lines were too big and won't fit on the engine side.. If you do decide to purchase and oil cooler verify that the oil line fittings will work...

DO NOT run your motor without putting some kind of oil line or connection between the two bolts. If you run it without a connection you wont get any oil to the head and you'll destroy the top end. Just my 2-cents.

You'll need to run a line between the two bolts and to answer your second question the engine won't get too hot, I burnt through one of my lines and just looped the other line around and reconnected it and rode all day in 90 degree weather and it was fine.

But just buying a single line is almost as expensive as buying a whole oil cooler so you should just run a cooler on it.

I don't think that its correct. I think you can run without connecting the two together. Oil is sumped directly. For testing, take off right cam cover on the spark plug side and kick it over a few dozen times. If no oil comes out, then I guess you have to connect them.

However, an oil cooler is a good idea and cheap insurance.

I fried my head in my last engine because I thought that. These engines come with oil coolers but some dealers will open the box nab out the oil cooler and sell it seperately to make more money but the cooler or a jumper line is needed.

The Lifan 150 is a different beast than the 138's and the YX's. Its usually in the cover that directs oil flow.
