Ok so I'm nearly complete on my resto-mod here (pictures to follow when complete) but I've run into a bit of a snag here when installing my new lifan 90. The petcock from my gas tank drops directly onto the air intake boot of the carb (20mm carb and intake manifold from TB) Now I've tried everything, (propping tank up, 12 way adapter, heat shield, possibly dremeling air fins on motor, but none of this will eliminate my problem) so I've come to the conclustion that if I had a petcock that came out and turned 90 degrees to the tank, I could get a hose on it and back to the carb with just enough room. But I can't find one from anywhere in the city......So thats my problem, if anyone can help me find a 90 degree petcock for a 77 Z50.....or a solution to the problem another way would be great too......

my 96 z has a 90degree petcock on it. see if you can find one of those, it might fit your tank hole....

yeah i had to turn my petside sideways to get it to fit the tb20mm carb i installed on it. and the choke lever doesnt go all the way up unless i turn the petcock more(but it starts first kick w/out choke everytime).

does your tank hole look like that?? thats not for sale, sorry

weird... i tried every manifold i had to get my 24mm to fit my Z and trizzbizzle had the same issue with his TB 20mm hitting the carb ( when he owned my bike )..but, some how i lucked out last night though, i put my chinker intake on it ( just like the TB but larger ID) and used my TB 20mm carb. The petcock hits the air filter but clears the carb it's self.. the drain on the bottom of the float bowl actually fits righ in between 2 of the cooing fins luckily...

i'll post pics in a bit.. i also had the 12 way adjuster and NOTHING worked with the 24mm carb.. i had to go without the heat spacer though in order for it to fit with the tb carb and intake.. i posted about this a few days ago and got very little responce...BTW. i'm running a lifan as well , except it's a124cc

one thing ive been thinking about to fit my 24 is to actually remove the petcock, fill the hole and then braze in a fitting for it some where else on the tank. But my tank is unpainted right now, i would imagine that yours still looks good so that might not work for you

did you run it out the right side from under the tank with that 12 way??

i had to trim my heat spacer to make it fit the way i wanted it too. as in pointing to the float bowl...

i ran the cable over the gas tank mount so it could have an less bent way into the carb cap..

i wanna see glenns pics of it

the coil isn't usually there on a Z ( at least the older ones ) i made that coil mount for the CDI coil since it had a shorter lead on it.. i jsut took a piece of 1/4 inch steel and welded it under there , but even brfore that the carbwouldn't go on the right side either because of the pipe

oh yeah the pipe is there too. i forget about all that stuff being packed in so tight over on that side of the bike

yeah my coil is under the right side of the tank

well I ended up ordering a 90 degree petcock off of ebay

so I think that will work but I have to wait for it to get here to tell the tale... but yeah I tried every spacer, 12 way etc, that I could think of... so my fingers are crossed, I'll post pics. as soon as its all finished. thanks again
