Lights on an 84 z50r?

I found a z50r for parts, it has everything except the seat and handlebars.
Everything else is in decent shape. He wants $150. This one has CDI...what would I need to take from this bike and add it to my 84 so I can put a headlight, taillight and blinkers on it?

The z50r did not have lights or a stator wound for them so nothing from the newer bike would help you with running lights and turn signals.

Will an 84 z50r accept a stator that is wired for lights?
Where can I find the process to do this?

CDI on an 84?? It should be points. IS it the original motor? If it is you can get a lighting coil from CHP (not sure if TB carries them too) If it really is CDI then you can wrap the stator for lighting or you can get a china stator plate with a lighting coil also. It can be done.

Re: Lights on an 84 z50r?

My motor is an 84 original.
Not sure of the year of this parts bike i want to buy, its not an 84, but its in the same family, blaze red, black shocks etc...
Basically the forks and wheels are mint, the original tank is in good shape, no seat, frame is fine, handlebars suck.
I need forks and wheels, lower fork tubes alone will run me $90.
Mint wheels and hubs, with good tires are worth more than $60, so I figure $150 is fair.

I know this parts bike has CDI, and I thought that meant it was wired for lights too...guess not. At least I'll have a spare engine for parts.
I'd like to put a big bore kit on the 84, and doctor it up a bit.
I'll be riding it for now, but won't be long before my 4yr old is on it.
