loncin 110cc 3 valve engine in 50cc z50j - 420 or 428 sprockets. need help

bought a 100cc engine. loncin 3 valve. told it has 428 cam sprocket. told to buy 420 if i want to keep old rear sprocket. simple bolt on i figure. also told to buy 428 chain. engine will produce torque capable of spinning chain off. wondering if anyone knows the specs on a stock z50j 50cc. did it come with 14 front tooth and 32 rear tooth sprockets. were they 420 or 428? where can i buy a 428 chain. honda, dratv...?? if i plan on not racing the engine but enjoy the occasional ride longer than a few blocks (wt 285#) do i need the 428 or keep the 420. engine coming in one week and want all the parts i need. seller will sell me a 420 cam sprocket for 10 bucks that way i can keep my rear sprocket. how about guys...any help here?

Just a 420 sprocket and chain is enough for your loncin 110-3V.

(I am still running 420 with a lifan 150, just one of the stronger 420 chain versions)

Also, I don't mean to be obnoxious here, but don't order a "cam sprocket" for this job; that's the one the timing chain runs on in the cylinder head. You want a "countershaft sprocket."

I agree that a good-quality 420 should be enough.

thanks guys. and you were right it is the other sprocket not a cam one. a heavier duty 420 chain. any ideas on where to get one - my honda dealer??? need to tell the seller of the engine to send me a 420 crank sprocket.

You can order chains online from all kinds of places. I've had good luck with Dennis Kirk in the past, and Dr. ATV and various advertisers on this site will all have choices too. I've had good luck in the past with D.I.D. chains and RK chains, but those are only two of many companies making/selling them. Tsubaki is one other one. Each company will probably have one or more economy chains, which stretch and wear faster and break easier, and some stronger and more expensive ones too. You could probably get a pretty good debate going on whether to go with an o-ring chain or not. My feeling is it's not too big a deal on a Z50 with a stock motor like mine. On something more powerful, a nice tough chain, o-ring or not, well cared for and well adjusted, will be less hassle in the long run.
