Mikuni Carb Question - How do you know which one you need? How do you size these things when purchasing? You see 28mm but they dont tell you the intake is 36mm! Can someone shed some light on which Flat Slide Mikuni carb that will work on a 150cc engine? What intake do I need? "THANK YOU" |

With a 28mm carb the venturi is 28mm, the flange which goes into the mounting boot which in turn bolts on to the manifold is 36mm. So you need a 28mm intake manifold with the correct rubber mounting boot for a TM28. (if you are going for the 28mm version) |

So you would recommend a Round Slide Mikuni with 28mm intake? Is that what you ask for 28mm intake. Best to place to buy this GENUINE Mikuni? What if I have a pro dial it in? |

Bike one: Skyteam st90(ZB clone) with 138cc jialing, mikuni VM26-665 on a takegawa manifold and rubber and K&N filter. Bike two: Skyteam le mans pro with lifan 150, for now the mikuni (copy?) vm24 which came with the engine. When the break in period is over, a keihin pwk28 is waiting on the shelf and will be used with a takegawa manifold and K&N filter(which i still have to buy) |

Genuine Mikuni's are stamped on the intake side either on the intake spigot itself or on the housing depending on the carb.

| Re: Mikuni Carb Question - How do you know which one you need? If you're buying a carb you're better off sticking with a genuine Keihin or Mikuni, as it will always run better than a clone carb! Even if your engine were to expire on you, you've always got a decent carb for your next engine or project. Another carb worth considering if you're looking at 28mm is the Keihin PE28, its a round slide similar to the Mikuni VM's, fairly easy to dail-in, I think one would would go very well on the Lifan 150! |

Thanks. I am looking at a VM28 carb kit right now with Manifold and jets etc. Round slide will be better than Flat slide for a guy like me. | |
