Nice little stable of bikes you got there. What's the deal with the +5 swinger on the Z. Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: MoMo's Garage.

It is litterally a zb50 swinger with the z50 mounting area welded on, so it is stock zb50 swing arm length. For whatever reason the zb50 swing arm is just 5" longer than stock, and like 1.75" wider. The swing arm is pretty much done tho, I just have to box a couple things so it looks a little nicer and its done. This thing is SOLID!
I put a Z50A headlight on the Z50R that is a little cracked but works. Honda can get me a new housing for $38, so I might do that during final assembly.
I got my XR50 Crank, XR70 Jug, and XR70 Head today. The 47mm dr atv 6v piston and gasket kit (for my cm90) should be here by wed I would think. Then I ordered a new head gasket for my Z50R from BBR along with a couple throttle clamps that broke on my Z50R and XR50 which should be here wed-thurs. Brent at BBR was super helpful. I ordered the vapor speedo too, so it should be here wed-thurs. Now I am waiting on the passport engine, pegs, and kick starter.
I just need a lighting coil, brake light switch, and led taillight & my Z50R is done..... well mock up is. ahah.

I like the Z with the ZB wheels. The ZB front wheel had a speedo drive built into the hub. Get a cable and run a speedometer. How long is the kickstand?

Re: MoMo's Garage.

It is the same length as an xr100 one, the shaft of the kickstand is 11". I have the Trail Tech Vapor on the bike now, but I wish trail tech sold a speedo sensor that went right into the spot in the hub where the speedo cable went originally. Acewell sells a sweet "Speedo Cable Drive" that converts the stock cable drive to electronic signal, but they claim it will not work on trail tech speedos. If only 1TrikZB would chime in and share his wisdom of the Acewell Speedo's on ZB50 Hubs. I ended up just copying chris wilder on how he mounted his speedo sensor (on the rear wheel). I got the Speedo & Tach Wiring done. I have to goto the auto parts store to pickup an M10x1.00 Tap today for the temp sensor and that should finish off the Vapor wiring for now. I was originally going to use the water temp sensor for oil temp, but then I decided to take the easy route and drill the skid plate hole in the jug out to m10 and screw the sensor in there. The unit is running off the internal 3v battery for now, but once I get my lighting coil I will hook it up to that power. If I read correctly the warning lights(temp and rpm) won't work using the internal battery. I actually just ordered my lighting coil for the Z50R!

Re: MoMo's Garage.

You said you still needed to order: " *CRF50 Throttle Assembly w/ kill switch"

there was a stock 50 bar with the throttle assembly and kill switch in the classifieds here yesterday

!
CRF and Z bars are different diameters. Just to let you know, 1Trikzb has a ZB speedo for sale. It fits into the bracket that holds your headlight ears. An NSR tach cable will work as a speedo cable and you are good to go.

Re: MoMo's Garage.

It sucks that there aren't more options for a throttle on the 3/4" cub bars. I don't want to use the cub throttle because it is the og slide. I am running the passport throttle now, but i would rather not because it has an electronic start button that wont be hooked up to anything. The XR/CRF is nice because it only has a kill switch.

The Vapor Tach/Speedo is sweet and all wired up so I am going to use it for a while. I may go with a stock ZB speedo later on because it will look clean as he ll and has the keyhole right there, then I could always put the Vapor on my Z50A or CR125. I actually found a little lcd tach I am going to throw on the CM90. It is super basic but it never hurts to have a tach.

Re: MoMo's Garage.

I installed the temp sensor in the jug, but what are good temps for an 85/88cc bike running well? I ended up reusing the old head gasket on the Z50R to get it back together, The smoke & noises both went away completely. The bike really isn't much louder than stock. I still need to put the silencer back in and throw a uni filter on it. The only problem I have right now is the bike is a little lean and takes full choke to make it run stoich so no real top speed run. I didn't calibrate the speedo to be sure it is dead on, but it did seem pretty accurate. I am going to bust out a gps or radar gun tomorrow and make sure it is within a mph. According to the speedo the bike did 50.5mph @ around 8000 RPM. It was in bar mode for the tach so I didn't get a good look at the rpm when I was doing 50mph, but I definately think 60mph is possible with this gearing. The bike revved to 10500 rpm in 2nd. I should have the speedo calibrated and engine tuned tomorrow.

50 Stunt is also making some trick bmx bars for the Z50R, ZB50, CRF70, CRF80, & CRF100 guys. I am going to grab a set as soon as they are done along with a set of his billet bar ends.

I also built the motor in my CM90, but it doesn't look like I will be able to use it until I get my Passport C70 carb. with the stock Z50R carb it won't even start or idle with full choke. lol. Hopefully the passport motor gets shipped out tomorrow. The cub still needs a few parts off of it to even be close to working; carb, foot pegs, & kick starter.

Re: MoMo's Garage.

As much as I don't want to do it, the XR100 is for sale. I am selling it as follows:

-1999 XR100 Rear Wheel.
-SOK Brake Shoes(Front), Reconditioned Rear Brake Shoe.
-Billet Gas Vent.

-Jetted amazing for exhaust mod.
-Avid AD3 Levers.
-comes with cert of origin and bill of sale.

-Z50R 7/8" Bars & Controls.
-Gold Tank.
-Forks and Bars painted black.
-missing side cover.
-missing headlight and taillight.

Then I am throwing pretty much all of my spare parts on ebay. XR100 50stunt Handbrake kit, XR100 17's, XR100 420 conversion, a billion Z50 parts, and who knows what else.

Re: MoMo's Garage.

Forks are stock slid up 1" in the triples. I got the both the CM90 & the Z50R running well. The CM90 did 45mph, and the Z50R did 52.5mph. Both bikes need a little more tuning, but I don't want to fine tune my Z50R until I get my new kitaco coil. Once I get the bike tuned and the rear brake finished, I am going to try to get some seat time on the bike before doing anything else. The CM90 is a little bit rich with the 38/77 jets. I think I may try to tune it with stock jets again now that I have it running. The CM90 still needs pegs anyways, so I can't really ride it around like I planned. Hopefully I can get the pegs and switch wiring done soon. For some reason I can't get the switch to work for the lights.

Re: MoMo's Garage.

First, I am posting in hopes somebody can help me. My Z50A got its new motor a couple weeks back but my petcock won't fit. The petcock hits the starter so I was hoping somebody knew where I could find a 90 degree fitting to go between the tank and the petcock or even a 90 degree petcock. I put a '78 tank on the bike to give an idea of the problem I am running into, the petcock is in the same spot.

On a better note, the z50r was doing awesome until I managed to fry my clutch. I changed the gearing to 15/36, did 52mph on flat ground and 58.4mph down hill.

Re: MoMo's Garage.

ahah. I can only ride the pink xr50, xr100, and cm90 right now. The cm90 has no front pegs tho and I still haven't tuned it perfect. the z50a is in pieces and the cr125 needs a clutch. The z50r is apart for a couple days while i wait on my new front brake cable, rear brake rod, and take a link out of my chain. I am picking up a few new (OLD) bikes tho. YZ125, CR80, and ATC70. maybe a C110 aswell.

Re: MoMo's Garage.

I get the z50r back from being tuned this week, then I get to throw on the lights and hookup power to my vapor so I can use the warning lights. I ordered up a Trail Bikes clutch cable so I can throw a CT70H clutch in it since the stock clutch doesn't hold power very well. I ordered a TB petcock for the '72 z50 as well, now I just need a carb rotator and a carb. I am thinking maybe an 18mm carb with a velocity stack if I can't find an XR70 carb for sale.

Re: MoMo's Garage.

I am finally getting back to work on the bikes. I have a whole bunch of parts I am looking to buy over the winter, see the first post for what all I need. I have each bikes parts listed seperately. I ordered a light set from Dan to get the '72 on the road, the lights should be here early 2009. I am going to try to make it more of a street bike than a stunt bike like it was. I did a bunch of damage to the bike stunting it before and considering the money a restoration is these days I perfer selling my spare z50 and buying an xr70 for a stunt bike. New Pix will not be up until I get the parts from Motoshop Z, so hold tight. In the next pix you see the tank will be painted and the bike will be 80% together. Still need to find a Kitaco Swing arm and some Rear Shocks.

Has anyone run Buddy Pegs on a Kitaco Aluminum Swing Arm? How did you go about doing this?
