My Mood: | motor suggestions
I have an 87 z50r motor. Are there any 88cc kits that would be competitive to race in that class for this motor or am i better off looking for a newer motor to start with. Most of the kits I see are for xr and crf. If the new motor is the way to go, i can pick up an xr motor for a $100. is that a good deal

id get the xr motor cause its a cdi and less maintenance with the points and all that. and if youre gonna use it in a bike with lights just get a lighting coil and call it a day.

If you know all about the compatibility between models, most CRF kits will bolt to the Z50R motor.

| Re: motor suggestions true true true. and you can buy an ignition conversion to make it cdi too if you want. i was just saying id go with the xr for 100 cause thats the price of the cdi conversion. you could then sell you z motor and have a little towards your bore kit. or just get a 99 dollars dratv 88 kit

TB has a whole section on their website that caters to the Z50R crowd. I'm guessing 50% of the motor stuff in that section is the same as in the CRF50 section.
