motor suggestions

I have an 87 z50r motor. Are there any 88cc kits that would be competitive to race in that class for this motor or am i better off looking for a newer motor to start with. Most of the kits I see are for xr and crf. If the new motor is the way to go, i can pick up an xr motor for a $100. is that a good deal

Re: motor suggestions

id get the xr motor cause its a cdi and less maintenance with the points and all that. and if youre gonna use it in a bike with lights just get a lighting coil and call it a day.

Re: motor suggestions

If you know all about the compatibility between models, most CRF kits will bolt to the Z50R motor.

true true true. and you can buy an ignition conversion to make it cdi too if you want. i was just saying id go with the xr for 100 cause thats the price of the cdi conversion. you could then sell you z motor and have a little towards your bore kit. or just get a 99 dollars dratv 88 kit

Re: motor suggestions

TB has a whole section on their website that caters to the Z50R crowd. I'm guessing 50% of the motor stuff in that section is the same as in the CRF50 section.
