| the MR50
ok well heres what ive got goin on with my mr50. so far ive extended the swing arm 1.5" and layed the shocks down a little bit. im finishing up the hand built under pipe i have made and it looks great and i hope it will be alot better than the stock exhaust. i also painted the hubs black and started painting the gas tank, im using krylon banner red for the frame and tank and red krylon fusion for the plastic. there is alot more that needs to be done before i can get this back together and running but ill keep posted on what little i do to it now and then. heres the pics |

vintage50, Looks like a great project. I look forward to seeing your progress. Your pipe should really "wake it up". The stock exhaust system is very restrictive. Krylon rattle can paints are not fuel resistant. If you use them, make sure that your gas cap gasket is good (and be careful when re-fueling) or your new paintjob will take a beating !! I have a '74 MR50 K0 that I'm going to restore back to original. hpiguy, The MR50 had a two year model run (1974 and 1975). The 1974 MR50 K0 was Daytona Orange / Black trim. The 1975 MR50 K1 was Silver / Tahitian Red trim. The bikes were two-stroke with a manual clutch and three speed transmission. Resto Last edited by Resto; 06-18-2007 at 10:13 PM. |

does anybody know were i can find fuel proof spray paint or atleast fuel proof clear coat? i need to get the complete gasket kit for the engine so i can start re assesembling it. ive got new rings for it and the piston is in really good shape. i wish there was some other performance parts for this bike, they are cool stock but even better modified if done correctly.

That makes me miss our MR50 we had when I was about 8 or 9. THe thing was mint and we picked it up for $350. It was a STEAL! It needed a little carb work becaise it never ran quite right. My dad didn't know anything about re-building the carb at the time so he just sold the bike for cheap becasue it wouldn't run. haha That is gonna be a cool little bike. I definitly want to see pictures when your done. |

Spraymax 2 part urethane clearcoat I haven't tried this stuff yet, but it is made for small automotive paint repairs. You may need to have a laquer undercoat, or you may need to do something special to paint it over regular krylon paint. It has a hardener you activate and it must be used in 24 hours. It should be as good as regular modern auto paint, but make sure you read how to use it on your job. SprayMax Two Part Clearcoat 11.8 oz. Aerosol |

I've got a 74' MR that I picked up for $50 bucks. The bike is still all original but I'm in the process of restoring it right now. The only really good source that I have found for parts is re-mx.com

That was my first bike ever. If I can find one cheap I will snatch it up. Nice little bikes. I know I loved it when I was a kid.

My thoughts is it will get crushed. I have an aftermarket down pipe and it was a choice of left side or right one side you had to remove the kick stand and the other well it was just not right that is why i made the custom up pipe.. use the up pipe and DS80 carb those will make it right. I have a wooden block of my intake for sale make offer... i will try to post pics. i am not sure where they are just look on my bike pics web page. Bill | |
