Re: My Bikes at Current

I'm really liking that green! Was that an available color in your market, or is it custom?

And what about that sidecover on the red hardtail; was that standard for you or did you make that or what?

That's a really cool collection.

Re: My Bikes at Current

Thankyou

The Red 1974 Z50AK2 has all the original battery side cover, frame exhaust shield, rear tail light bracket etc with a mixture of NOS equipment.
It is running an 85cc kit with a dax head, bearing race cam, larger valves with HD springs, HD Clutch, Hi Flo Oil Pump, 6 volt Cdi and 20mm carb with 16/28 gearing.

The green Paw Paw J1 was colour matched to the original paint.

In Aus, we only got 3 colours...Paw Paw Green, Ceramic white and parakeet yellow for the Z50J1 models.....what you call the K3.

The Ak2 hardtail came in Blue, Red and yellow.

My Yellow J1 with the seat missing is loaded up with a Tb 88 kitted motor and 6 volt Cdi.

Both the 85 and 88cc go very well with 16/28 gearing, my green J1 is all stock.

Thankyou kindly for your posts

Pat

Re: My Bikes at Current

They look great! What tires are those on the yellow J1? With them, and whatever else you have, what kind of speed are you getting? Figure its a street machine

Re: My Bikes at Current

The tyres on the yellow J1 are 4 X 8 Heindau tyres.

The std size is 3.5 X 8 which is what the Z50AK2 has on it ( IRC Tractor Grip ).

Speed wise...I am still running the motors in but with 16/28 gearing and the std 3 speed auto, for sure I will hit the 80 KPH mark.

To hit the magic ton, I reckon you'd have to go a stroker kit or use a big bore china motor....but then you also need to upgrade the suspension, swingarm, forks and brakes as the little fellas do get hairy at speeds higher than 60 kph in the stock form.

A 4 speed box would help too.

Thanks mate

Pat

Re: My Bikes at Current

Thanks. I am looking at doing a CT70 or TB 4spd with maybe those tires. Gearing will have to be worked out. Not looking for a speed demon but would like the option to get up there Also, hoping to go to an 88cc at most. Dont want a have a grenade on my hands.

Re: The Bikes at Current

Thankyou for your feedback.

Ok...

The kick starter is just a cheap alloy chinese kicker that is sold over here with the Lifan motors.

I am not fussed on this kick starter, it won't last for sure but I don't have the $$$ atm to spring for a nice Takky or Kitaco Kick Lever.

You can always get one off a dirt bike or bend the old one...I know of people who have done it.

The head lamps on all the bikes are stock std originals. Our headlamps over here are different to yours...that's my understanding anyway and ours have the speedos in all of them........Z50A to JY.

4spd Dax ???.

I think that a 4 speed G box is the most underated performance enhancing item there is.

This I am still researching. I know of many suppliers like DRATV, TB , CMNSL, Rovasa etc whom stock such kits but I don't know which is the better when it comes to affordable quality.

I cannot afford Takky or Kitaco gear atm so I tend to lean toward the budget TB brand as it seems to be more value for money for the average joe like me.

88cc kit....I think it is a good kit but I want more power in my Dax.

I have thought of putting in a 140 lifan etc but I want the bike to look fairly stock....or as close as possible.

My thinking at the moment is to get a stroker kit to take the 88cc out to 108cc but it is my understanding that these TB stroker kits ( 108cc & 117cc ) are only for 12 volt set ups so I can only assume that I have to convert the bike to 12 volt ?.

I don't understand why this is....I have never had a 12 volt engine...what's the difference apart from the stator , CDi ?.

I was gonna run with a 6 volt set up and a 6 volt Cdi so atm I am abit confused as to what i have to do.

Oh, I am going to run 4 X 10 tyres on the dax...continental whitewalls.

Thankyou

Pat
