Looks like the frame has an enormous dent? Any interest in a new set of kitaco 330mm shocks?

if the frame does have a dent and u don't want to bother fixing it I saw another CT70H frame on ebay for want I think is cheap price with title. Easy to swap parts over. or if you want a st70 dax frame instead http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123 Last edited by z50 chopper; 08-26-2009 at 04:11 PM. |

man you guys had me freaking out, it definitely looks dented in the pics however it's actually not. I would pay a decent price for a titled street legal frame for it though. |

My Mood: | Re: My first CT70H build Now add taillight, blinkers and that seat and go through the title service, you should be good to go or look at that link I posted earlier for the st70 dax frame with title, oops looks like someone already won it.

My Mood: | Re: My first CT70H build I have seen bike that have the switches but no lights or wiring for lights, but seeing as you have the headlight and taillight you could be in luck and wires coming from the switch?

hmmmmmmmm ok brand new carburetor. Will only start with the choke on, after it starts you can flip the choke off immediately and run it at higher RPM's. If you try to let it idle it dies immediately. |

brand-new STOCK carburetor? Assuming it's got the right pilot jet in it, I'd suspect the carb...either you don't have the idle stop screw in far enough, or the pilot jet is obstructed/wrong size, or the pilot air screw is incorrectly adjusted. It doesn't take much "wrongness" in either department. How's it run at the higher rpms again?

Full throttle fine, mid throttle it has a bad hesitation. The bike also has very slow throttle response. Checked the points and they are correct, howver I didn't take the timing chain gear cover off and check the timing. Also I'm not sure if it's the stock carb, It's a mikuni he gave me with the bike and said he had not installed yet, has the petcock on the side of it. also I just noticed it doesn't look like the slide in the carb is going down as far as it should, I have no more slack in the cable to let it go down any further. Stock carb should be a Keihin, I believe. To me what you describe sounds like flat spots in the powerband caused by a lean mixture part of the way through the throttle range, but since you say it seems to run okay at full throttle, that would indicate the main jet is okay or close to it. A couple of things to check...with the petcock open and the bowl drain screw opened, what kind of fuel flow are you getting? It should be at least a fast dripdripdrip or a decent trickle. If it's not, check for a float that's hanging up, or a float needle that isn't dropping down along with the float but staying stuck in its seat. Check the jets for obstruction, and the pilot air passage and all that stuff. Shoot carb cleaner and compressed air through the various holes, watching so you don't have it come out the other end into your eye. Yeah, that's pretty unpleasant. Check the needle that hangs from under the slide and see which groove the circlip is in. I don't know what carb you're dealing with there but to me it sounds like if you can verify enough fuel's getting into the bowl and the jets/passageways are clear, and you can get the idle mixture in the ballpark so it will idle (clear jet, clear passage, pilot air screw set somewhere between 3/4 and 2 turns out from seated--wherever it idles fastest, then close it maybe 1/8 turn from there--then you're pretty much left with sorting out the midrange, which you can sometimes do just with that needle circlip position. I'm not a carb expert, but I've played one on TV a bunch of times. I may be leading you in the wrong direction but my hunch is that what you describe is not a valve-timing problem, and you seem to have spark. |

Will definitely go threw it more tomorrow. In the mean time my guy in Vietnam is hooking me up with some decals. After I get it running well it's getting stripped and I will be painting the frame gloss black. |

I have a guy in Vietnam that reproduces old Honda parts. I have the original carb soaking over night, going to give it a good cleaning. The new carb that's on it is using the old slide and needle which I'm pretty sure is a big part of my problem. I put the slide in the old carb and it goes almost all the way down and closes off the carb. When this slide is installed in the new carb it only goes about half way down. |

Needle definitely fixed my running problems. Here's a dumb question though. I got the bike running well. I had the bike at an idle with no battery. I decided to hook up my test light to the tail light and as soon as I did it lit then blew the bulb. Is this telling me anything? |
