My second CT-70

My first CT-70, my dad gave to me for my 10th birthday and 23 years later I bought my second one. Just picked up a '91 CT-70 in great shape. I'm excited to have a bike that I can finally ride (legally) on the street.

Thumbs up

Nice find! The 91-94 CT70'S are excellent bikes. I have 91' also. Love it for the street. Want to wake it up? Get rid of the stock intake first. Wait till you see the I.D. of it! Rejet the carb. I have an intake from DRATV and main jet is now #72. Also throw a pipe on it. Aftermarket airfilter also. Major difference in the bike, Lot cheaper than big bore kit.

Yep, that's what I was thinking when I first rode the CT... wow, this thing needs to be opened up. That'll be a winter project probably, right after the bathroom remodel is done (have to make the wife happy first

I was thinking about polishing the rims up (or getting a new set and polishing those), and putting some decent tires on it. What kind of tires are you guys putting on yours (street tire brand)? Thanks for the compliments.

qwoke-q, it's just a stocker.

I'm using the Maxxis GP tires. Super sticky. Not high mileage! LOL. Wheels are G-Craft 3.5" wide alloy.

Razzo, where'd you get the G-Crafts from? I didn't think there where many distributors here in the States.

Question '71 Ct70

I've asked this before but noone replied, how much HP does the stock '71 CT70 make?
I know it's not much but I want an accurate number.
My quess is 2.25-2.5 HP.

ALSO, does anyone know what year the CT70's went from
points and condenser To CDI.?

BTW, my neighbor and uncle almost wippied out on his CT70
last sunday when the throttle stuck.

CDI - 91-94 CT70'S - 91 & 92 different stripes, only change. 93-94 were left overs from poor sales. Went unchanged 93-94.

I've got two sets for my CT. Pirelli SL26 for normal street use. Reasonable performance for my stock powerplant and inexpensive. Pirelli SL60 for "enduro" use. They are the tires designed for the Yamaha Zuma scooter and have better off road tread but work just fine at normal speeds on the street. I run both on stock rims with tubes installed.

Quite satisfied with both for their intended usage.
