My Z doesn't rev high anymore

On my way back from the grocery store, I noticed the the engine was lacking power. On flat straight roads the revs would gradually fall. Even if I pinned the throttle it would keep falling. The only extra weight was a 2 liter bottle of soda. I just put in a CRF50 top and and a TBQ race cam without new springs. I have had it for about 100 miles now. 60-70 miles were done at full throttle on roads at about 40 mph. The carburetor has no choke and the backfire plate is removed from the airbox. I have a stock exhaust. What is causing the engine to not perform up to potential? My top speed fell from 43 to 37. That's a lot. Cars passed me a lot faster today.

Thank for the suggestion. But I think I'll just fix my current motor.

Check the valves, if they tightened up you'll loose dynamic compression.

I'll check the valves when the engine cools down. But only because it was last set with a soda can. I checked the ignition timing with agreat timing light. It's amazing how much it helps. I didn't need to check the point gap or anything. I just pulg it in and check the timing. It's awesome. If anyone has $90 to spare get one. It saved my life and possibly my bike's. It solved the snarly sound, bogging, lack of top end power, overheating, and it starts easier. It's just awesome. Here's a picture so you know what to put your money into. So thanks everyone for your help. Especially Dilligaf.

Oh. I lied. Okay, the engine starts better, doesn't snarl, and the bike runs cooler but it still won't rev high. I claimed all the stuff above after a 15 second ride around the yard and I never got above half throttle. In the troubleshooting section of my Honda shop manual, it says after checking the ignition timing, I should check the valve clearances. So I will when the engine is cool. I just went on a 20 mile trail ride and then did some dirt riding behind my sister's school so the engine is plenty warmed up.

Yeah so I didn't post a question again. Can anyone tthink of another reason why the engine might perform bad at high RPMs? Actually, what would prevent the engine from getting to high RPMs?

If it gets much slower, you might be able to get a bit part in a Comcast High Speed Internet commercial, it could be titled:

I couldn't sleep. I drank a two liter bottle of Coke today. It was coming back from the store that I noticed the lack of high end power. I was crazy awake till about midnight. Oh. I'm going to go check the valves right now.

I adjusted the valves to 0.002 inches. When my parents get home I can test it out.

Well I had the valves adjusted but decided to take apart the shocks and paint them. So now I have to wait till noon tomorrow to assemble the shocks.
