| Need Hawian Blue Metallic Paint?
My K4 is painted in what Honda originally called Hawian Blue Metallic. Anybody know where I can get it or else a paint code that I could use for something like House of Kolor products or other? Thanks for any expert help on this one. |

If you are looking for a perfect match and someone to paint it reasonably, check out J Z Restorations on the links page at Razzomoto.com. Jack has done some out standing work for me and maney others. He can paint the oem Honda colors correctly. Easy guy to work with. Located in Ohio. A friend has his 1968 Honda z50 KO being done by him now. He painted mine too.

Thanks gang. I'm primarily hoping to do it myself. But I'm not against the idea of sending the parts to someone to do the job if the price is reasonable. I don't expect it to be a perfect theoretical match. Just so that it has a reasonable rendition of the blue Kandy color. For the moment, I'm looking for approximate paint code and supplier for the do-it-yourself route. I'll consider sending it to someone if that turns out to be to complicated. |

Isn't there a guy on Ebay that sells DIY paint kits for the old Z50/CT70s?

Hey SprNtrl, I thought I had run across that on eBay once also. I did a search and only came up with this. Anyone else know about the eBay guy SprNtrl is referring to? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUTO-...14943957QQrdZ1 |

I don't know if this helps but it was on the classic honda website Paint Code Paint Kit Color Model Silver- 35499 Candy Sapphire Blue- 16305 Blue with Silver Base Coat K1 Silver-35499 Candy Ruby Red-72939 Red with Silver Base Coat K1 Paint Notes: All of these paints are DBC Base coat, Deltron 2000. Paint all of the pieces of your paint job with the silver first and then your candy coat. |

it can also be done with hok of kolor kandy, sem candy, alsa corp candy, its just all in how much darkness effect u get with the candy, kandies arent easy to spray, should be left up to experienced painter, ive spray alot of kandies, a few motorcycle tanks too

Well thanks for all the info so far gang. Man, I didn't think the paint thing was going to be so difficult when I first dove into my resto project. I assumed that with all the restoring going on on this forum that the paint thing would have been all figured out. Mike, I saw the reference on Classic's web page for the Saphire Blue. I'm just not sure that that is the same as Hawiian Blue, but it's probably close enough for my purposes. Like I said, I don't need an exact match. Also, I understand that Kandys are tricky to spray, but I have some experience spraying other stuff and I think that with a little practice on a throwaway surface I can do a decent job on the final pieces. I think I'll go with the Classic reference for a DBC basecoat combined with Deltron 2000 (sounds expensive though). |

Wheelin, Sweet fiddy dude. That's about the level I'm taking mine to also. I want to ride the thing, not put it in a showcase, so I don't want to go to far out. In fact, I would go with a can spray also if I can find a decent metallic or kandy color that goes on with only a single coat. The problem with these kandy or metallic colors is that they require a two or three step process that includes the primer, the base coat (which is silver) and the kandy coat, which is like a semi-transparant tint that adds color while allowing the sparkle of the silver to shine through. I'm going to check out the Dupli-Color option to see if they carry a medium blue metallic that I can be happy with. I would much rather do a single coat than have to deal with the multi-stage process. Thanks for the pic. |

BEER... Even tho i used the spray-paint.....it still took a few coats of paint, plus a few coats of clear to get it looking good....i actually had everything painted the first time, then decided it wasn't the color i wanted, so i re-painted everything...good luck |

Well, so far I have lot's of options on where to purchase paint, but I still can't find a thing on the paint code for the Hawiian blue. Every paint vendor I talk to says they can't do much without a paint code, or else I have to go and do a color match.
