Need help with a TB big bore kit

Hello All,

I can use some help. I'm installing a TRAILBIKES 88cc kit, racehead, and 20mm carb kit on my 1991 Z50r. All went well untill I got to the cam install. The stock cam and sprocket have a 3 bolt offset pattern and the TB race cam for the race head has a 2 bolt pattern...the moral of the story is that the stock cam sprocket will not bolt up to the new cam (part # TBW0300) I'm at a standstill and could use some help. Also there is a small conical seal / washer that came in the gasket kit and don't know where it goes ??
The TB kit seems O.K. but I'm a little ticked that they don't include any instructions. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Roy

You are gonna need a new cam sprocket for sure. I think DRATV sells one and tb should too. Just look at an exploded view online and see where all the rubber washers go in the head.

Is the gasket/washer seal green in color?

Sorry, it's a reddish/brown color. Thinking of another gasket..
Is this it? Sorry for the blurry pic., but you get the idea.

If thats it. That i believe goes for the older 6V motors, so you wont need to worry about that. If not, i dont know what to tell you. A picture of the gasket would help.

Re: Need help with a TB big bore kit

Dirttrackin...here's a pic. Half-Dead.... here is the crazy lookin stud guide next to the mystery seal. As you can see it's too small to go over the stud !! And as near as I can tell the TB kit doesn't use that guide anyway.
The second pic has the two cams next to each other...stock on left and the TB race on the right.

dirttrackkin that pic you posted of that oarngish seal is a valve seal, you need to remove the valve springs to install. if its a new head dont worry about installing these

The 91 Z50R does not have the roller cam design. They started the roller cam in 1992 models and up, but, the 1988 ZB50 has a roller cam design. This is why the cam sprocket is different.

Re: Need help with a TB big bore kit

So I need a 1992 and up 28 tooth cam sprocket ?? Is there anything else I need ?? How does the new sprocket get centered on the new cam ?? The stock cam has a shoulder that centers the sprocket. Thanks, Roy

Re: Need help with a TB big bore kit

O.K. I've got it figured out....

Mark from AHP called me first thing this morning and set me straight. I DO need a cam sprocket from a 92 and later XR/CRF 50. He will also supply me with a dowel locating pin to center the sprocket on the cam. And the mystery seal is for a early (6 volt ??) Z50.
You would think Trailbikes would let you know you need a later cam sprocket on the '91 and earlier bikes or maybe even include instructions.....It sure would make it easier for idiots like me

Thanks Mark at AHP for setting me straight !!!
