Smile Need photo of assembled alum triple tree on CT70 w/ Roller Bearings

Does any one have a pic of what the headset looks like assembled on a CT70 with Roller Bearings installed?

Thanks
Mux

Mike,

You are thinking too much about this.

You'll have the upper and lower bearing cups in the frame.

From bottom to top - Washer - Bearing ] Frame [ Bearing - Nut with plastic cover on the underside - Top Clamp - Washer - Nut

Got the ALL BALLS bearings today. They are straight forward. Nice looking too with grease seals etc.,

Muxter,
I had to dremel out the head tube a little bit, but took about 5 minutes, tapped into place flush with frame and ready to go. Did the same on the bottom, they are really easy to work with. Good luck

You should have no problems getting these in. Super easy.

Put the races in the freezer for a half hour to shrink them and they’ll tap right in.

Jimmy,
That really works? Never heard of sticking them in the freezer. Once they're in, they're in I do no that. Smooth action, I really like them.

I've done a few sets and never had to dremel. Cold and heat works.

A little dry ice and you can drop them in from across the room... Seriously, the freezer is a great trick. The secret is to lube the outer race of the cone, get it lined up evenly and tap it in as parrallel to the opening as you can. A brass drift punch with a sharp edge is the weapon of choice.

Should be a piece of cake.

Sure dose man. It also works great for installing new case bearings.

Where did you get the bearings from? Or where can i get a set like the ones youre talking about. I need new bearings for my ct and i might as well upgrade to better bearings? Also; did the bearings come with the lower bearing grease seal, #8 in your parts diagram?

Re: Need photo of assembled alum triple tree on CT70 w/ Roller Bearings

With the help of HondaZrider we installed the front end nicely.
The bearing races tapped right in with a block of wood. NO need to freeze.
I had to chuck #11 in the lathe and cut off the flange that holds the plastic dust cover. It would not fit with that dust cover on there.
Everything worked out perfectly.

The centering was a little tricky but HondaZrider got all mathmatical and solved it.

The caliper is tight taking on an off. But the wheel spins true and smooth.

On to the wiring...

My dad wired the bobbins according to Monkeytoms' post. Should work well I hope.
