| Need tips for mods on a 94 Z50...
I'm looking for any ideas, tips, info, etc... for increasing the performance on my 94 Z50. What mods have you done that are worthwhile? I changed the air filter and I'm raising the handlebars, but would like to upgrade the suspension and make the stock engine a little faster without going to a bigger bore kit. I saw an aftermarket CDI box that will let it rev out more, but am not sure if it is worth it. I would like to keep the bike as quiet as possible for those nighttime stealth rides. |

don't get the cdi box, it doesn't help. You can fit an xr75 swingarm which is +4 longer than stock with some light mods. Do a search on it. Up front you can upgrade the fork legs/springs.

Yes, it will fit any z with a swingarm but you have to add a brake mount and cut down the mounts a bit. You also need longer shocks. Look in the lets see everyone's Z thread, there are quite a few with xr75 swingarms.

i have done a few dratv 72cc kits that work great for a little more power and keeping the cost down, you can run the stock head, cam and carb. on my 95 z i am running xr70 shocks in the rear, you can normally get stock ones pretty cheap, and +1 forks hd springs in the front. sits level and rides nice.

Does it matter which year xr shocks to run? And what is the difference, are they longer or just have stiffer springs? Thanks for the help.

You would want to run xr75 dual shocks from the earlier years. regular xr70 shocks for the mono swingarms would be way too stiff.

G-Craft single sided swingam, RS125 inverted forks hotshots 176cc DOHC honda nice build BST carbonfiber NSR wheels Falcon racing tires and some one off carbon body work should do it. |
