Neutral Indicator Light

I have a '99 XR 70 bottom end that I'm putting an AHP 4 speed into for a street legal Z project, is it possible to install a neutral indicator switch to work with this transmission and cases? Next question is.... how do I do it?

Re: Neutral Indicator Light

Well i can tell you that it can be done. And the parts can be had. I can't tell you how to do it. But the china quad motors which are the same bottom as a honda. Have a little switch that goes under the rubber plug on the chain side. It has a few wires that come out and from there i have no clue.

This is the neutral switch (light green wire) on a ZB motor in the red circle. A hole would have to be drilled in your case for the switch to make it work. Check pics.

Re: Neutral Indicator Light

Thanks tmas, I sorta have an idea how it's suppose to work now. Think it'll work with the 1 down 3 up AHP tranny?

Yes, Your cases probably have the cut out for the switch (plastic with rubber O ring seal) to fit into but a hole has to be drilled to connect the switch with the trans. Brad Reynolds has done it.

Re: Neutral Indicator Light

One more question, where could I get the copper (i think it's copper) tab that attaches to the shift drum to ground out the contact nub on the back of the switch inside the motor?

Re: Neutral Indicator Light

This is what Villian is looking for, the one in the pic is on an ATC70 shift drum.

Re: Neutral Indicator Light

The AHP 4 speed should come with the brass contact piece on it.

Re: Neutral Indicator Light

Thanks guys, yeah I hope the AHP tranny comes with it, guess I could just ask mark before I order it eh? Can't really tell from that picture angle, I see the bolt and washer and some other piece there too, doesn't look like the contact though. I'll find out in a few weeks when I order up all my engine goodies, seeing as I'm having a helluva time with ordering chassis parts from Europe. So I'll be building the engine first, might have to bite the bullet and get top shelf chassis parts from Japan through Dan and Brad...Anyone wanna buy a kidney? Low hours, only used on the weekends...
