new ct build

so i got a good job close to home an decided that i didn't want to drive the gas gussling saleen or f150 so i am building a 1970 ct70, dormant orange from embee, tak 88, 4 speed, clutch oil cooler, an soon to be 117, trail buddies front disk brakes, an all the bolts zinced or painted full restore, polished hubs, an metalic gray rim half's. haven't decided what i want to do with the handle bars, was going for a sport bike theme.......................... just kidding about the saleen its a gt an for sale..................... http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c158/mxbullet/

For handle bars go for clip-ons if you are going for a sportbike theme.

Re: new ct build

Go for better bars that will enable you to use a "real throttle" instead of that horrible vintage throttle that all of us cuss from time to time. Mine are Daytona bars and I love them, same rise and spread as the Honda bars.

Re: new ct build

You may already know this but the late-production CTs, like '91-94 I think, didn't have that cast-aluminum top triple clamp with the fold-down mechanism built in. Instead they had a common modern-style top with regular handlebar clamps, and handlebars that looked sort of like what's on a Z50R, or a BMX bicycle. You might want to swap to that arrangement if you're going custom and want some options.

I don't usually like them, but sometimes the dark tinted shorty look nice. with the sport bike theme.

The Daytona bars came from www.honda50.com and were pretty inexpensive, like $40 or $50. They're great.

OEM Honda 1991-1994 bars are $70 plus shipping and handling, the Daytona bars are like $40 - $50 and a nice chrome. Your choice!

I had Terry@Firepowerminis put in a 4 speed tranny from a XL70 with the TB 117cc kit. No problems, and I hear they are pretty tough/durable.
