My Mood: | New Gorilla project **Updated pic
So Im currently working on my Monkey project (Lifan frame) and over time Ive picked up some parts bikes. I just picked up a 72cc zongshen motor from a member here and decided to stat a Gorilla project. The frame is a genuine honda ('79 frame) and the tank Gorilla tank is supposed to be here today from CHP. Ill post pics with the tank as soon as UPS gets here. As for the motor, I think Ill drop in the 95cc bore kit sometime in the future. Anyone have a Gorilla seat thats not being used? ![]() Last edited by ducatilover; 06-17-2009 at 10:51 PM. |

What makes a bike a Gorilla? A seat and a tank? Is that the main difference from a Z50?

The z50r 80's style seat won't fit with that tank? I'm curious about that myself.

I'm liking your build thus far. Please keep the pic's coming as I always liked a tricked out Gorilla, and it will be cool to see one state side for once.

Asian Concepts/Kitaco/Daytona seat will fit. Just relocate mounting bracket underneath seat pan. Easy mod. My Gorilla tanked Z50r has that set-up.

My Mood: | Re: New Gorilla project Are you saying the Z50r seat will work with some mods to the mounting brackets? I was trying to mount it but the front of the seat gets in the way of the tank. I thing I would have to cut the seat pan if I wanted to make it work. Got any pics?

The aftermarket seats have removable brackets. I just relocate them as needed. The Z's seat brackets are welded to the frame. Harder to relocate. Don't cut the pan. Seat is small enough already! LOL! Either make new brackets for the stock pan or go aftermarket but still need to mod them.

Updated pic. I modified a monkey seat to fit the gorilla tank. Just needs a front end to make it a runner. |

It looks cool. If you could get a set of forks short enough to give the bike a slight forward rake like that you would be in business.

My Mood: | Re: New Gorilla project No worries. the seat is a monkey seat that I threw some vinyl on. I had to cut the front of the seat pan about an inch to make it work. A nice gorilla seat is in the plans but i want a front end first.

Seat looks bad. Weld those seat frames on a 72-78 seat. It would look quite a bit like a gorilla seat.
