NSR Rear Master Cylinder

Do any of you know if the bolt pattern on the master cylinders is universal or are there any other more common honda rear master cylinders that will bolt onto a setup made for an nsr rear master? Or for that matter do any of you have a rear nsr master for sale in working order?

Re: NSR Rear Master Cylinder

I do know the Honda dirtbikes have the wrong bolt pattern and the piston is too small for an NSR 50 rear caliper as they don't push enough volume.

Look to the bigbikes and go junkyard hunting. I haven't put much effort into the search as I always bought them new from Honda when they don't have them on backorder.

It's a fairly common bolt pattern, and almost all of the import bikes use the same pattern. Plus many of the import masters have integrated reservoirs which make them a bit easier to deal with compared to the long tube NSR50s use. They typically have a longer push rod but that's easy enough to cut to length. They can also be rebuilt with Honda seals down the road should you be wary of chinese brake parts.

Joshua,

The CRF450 and other Honda dirtbikes don't fit. I've tested these with the integral resi's. I can't speak for the normal big Honda and other imports.

Brembo Rear masters don't fit either.

Re: NSR Rear Master Cylinder

The masters I've got, save for one all came from import pitbikes. I've looked at a couple full size bikes that used the same bolt pattern but can't for the life of me remember what they were.

All the Japanese mini stuff including G-craft is setup for the NSR50 rear master cylinder. This is correct.

There has to be another US Honda application that uses this rear master, but I've never messed with looking other then the dirtbike and brembo applications which have the different bolt pattern. US Honda is out of these alot of the time as when they get back in stock, I buy them up for projects. I don't have any at the moment. Look to the Thai vendors as I think the Honda Nice uses this rear master as well.
