| [off topic] xl100 transform in Ape 100?
just wanna know what your thinking about a projet like that one... here's the bike and the closest final result suppose to look... ![]() transformer... ![]() my main hesitation is about the wheels on the ape the tires are mores wider than on the xl even for front and rear tires... did you think it could be possible to fit fat tires on xl? |

I never really thought of that before. It would be a neat project. If you wanted to replicate the rear suspension on the ape, that would probably be the biggest fabrication challenge. The tank/fenders/exhaust/etc. are not hard to find, but getting them to North America would get expensive /dayj1 |

i am just looking whats are available and whats possible to do. the real interest is that the XL could be register as a street bike... because is intended use is dualsport. all XR had been retired from the street because the intended use of those bike is off road only. for now i got a projet to finish as my Z50A! |

that xl seems too nice to butcher and not that close in geometry to the ape not to mention the rear suspension with 2 shocks.an later 1980s xr 80 w/prolink looks closer and could be made street legal with a lil work.plus mids 80s xls are very rare and collectable in stock form

in Québec... xr are not legal on street even if you put flasher and tail light etc... because the intended use of those bike are registrated as OFF ROAD bike. there's no xr650r converted in supermotard on the street. that's the reason that i'm looking for an XL 'cause their registred as dual purpose bike an can be legal on street. |
