Is an oil cooler necessary?

I am working on building a motor. It's going to have a TB 88 race head. I have a TB high volume oil pump installed and the oil jet drilled to 2mm. The bike will be used for motard racing on local kart tracks. Is it necessary to have an oil cooler or can I save the money for something else?

I think I would use one, the TB cooler will actually give you the best cooling possible.

Not really a must on a 88. 108's + a must. You should be fine. I have never run a cooler on a 88 and no oil heat related problems.

Re: Is an oil cooler necessary?

if the cash allows it run one. For an 88 I wouldn't bother myself even if I had an atm machine spitting cash out. On my zonger I don't run one, put 500 miles on it.
