The big issue is differing stud spacing, he's either going to have to rework the head a touch to move the stud paths and dowel recesses, or run with one or no dowels and hope the head doesn't move.

It's not that the head can't go on, but that it shouldn't. One dowel is in the right place and the other needs a small relief cut in the jug to clear. It won't move around with just the one, but the second helps hold the gasket during assembly. The chamber is too big to get a decent amount of compression with the smaller displacement and the ports are too large unless you build a 124-ish engine. The jug is too tall for any known rod/crank to work. DrATV has cranks, and $50 BB jugs right now. Off the whole Lifan lump and grab an e22 head for the Honda build. Even an ATC70 head with the bigger valves and non-iron chamber is better than the Lifan. We ran three of them, and were great for a roadracer with a close ratio trans but fell on their face until upper midrange, after the others had a couple lengths on them. All were swapped for ported TB, e22 and a Super.

its not mine its my neightbors..we are both into ct70's...he has a 140cc lifan that one of the casings cracked and is was always breaking kickstart gears so he is sick of it....he has a auto honda bottom end all apart right now and the lifan completely apart....he says he is going to make the honda a manual by using the lifan clutch setup which he says can bolt right on i guess...i havent seen this yet and he is going to use the lifan crank to get the stroke he needs....he is going to use his 140cc jug and LBV head cat5 ported. i'll keep u guess posted on his progress but if this works then i'll do the same i think... $50 for BB jugs??...thats cheap isnt it....for 88cc right? |

Lifan 59mm crank won't go in Honda cases, will hit oil pump shaft. Cases won't accept that huge spigot on the jug, bolt pattern is different, crank sprocket tooth count is different, drive is different, blablabla. Lifan 86/107 crank is a drop-in with a 69mm jug. DrATV has 52 and 54mm bore, 63 and 69mm tall all at that price. Save him some trouble, unless you need a good laugh...
