I actually put the stock susp back on it so i could race the indoor flat tracks this past weekend. went ok got a third overall the first night and sixth the second night. i need to get a bigger engine if i want to keep up with the rest of those guys. there all running at least a gpx or some other 124 engine. i guess its time to spend some money! |

My 1984 Z50R has a CRF50 top end and the TBQ Race Cam from Beatrice Cycle. Stock carburetor with choke removed and homemade Power Now intake wing installed. The airbox has the backfire plate and silver plate removed and the snorkel is cut but not the entire plastic piece. It has a Red Barron skid plate and 1979 Z50R exhaust. Also has 1979 Z50R handlebars and clamps. Running stock IRC tires but I'm looking into the snow hogs on the bike in the post above me. I have a TB manual clutch kit and an XR50 front fender. It has CRF50 fork lowers and fork guards. I consider my bike very off road capable even with the stock suspension. The stock tires get good grip on hard to medium packed trails, and the power now intake wing adds a lot of low end torque. The TBQ race cam gives a lot off the bottom too. I added a lighting coil but don't have any lights to hook up yet. I silicone sealed the flywheel cover to the cases to keep water out of the points during stream crossings. If you do this, take your time and make sure that you get all the contact surfaces. I even sealed the ignition wire grommet. So now I can ride in water up to the carburetor. I run 12/37 gearing even though stock is 14/37. The 12 gets more hit off the bottom and I don't need top speed off road. I'm almost never in third gear. And I also added a modified CRF50 ignition key switch to keep people from riding off. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by arlindsay1992; 12-22-2006 at 10:13 AM. |

Yeah. 1life2live, your link doesn't work. And egmike, where did you get those fenders? Are they just cut stock ones?

Both these bikes on here look awesome. I love the old z's especially the ones from the 80's. I would love to get one for myself someday. Those snow hog tires make that bike look nasty. Cool Bikes guys.

Here's MY '87. These are old pics. It now has Honda motor in it instead of the Icon motor in the pics. But everything else is still the same. ![]() ![]()

Looks like you need an air filter and some front brakes. But your bikes are surely coming along. Keep it up!
