How do these frames get bent? And where on the frame do they tend to bend?

I have a '69 that beats your bike for ugliness, and I paid $106 for it.

I bought one seemed like every piece I pulled off of it was either bent or rusted, you will be surprised what a sand blaster will do, you should be able to get a frame cheap

its bent exactly where AR lindsay posted. and yeah, all the parts on there are either rusted or bent. im about to pick up a new 50 in a few weeks. (just sold my bike) and i know i can use the foot peg mount and the bars. but what else can be taken off a new bike and put on a Z (bolt on that is) will springs and stock fork tubes fit? i plan on completly rebuilding the front end. |

You'd be surprised how much is interchangeable. But you can't take bars from the CRF's the distance between mounting holes is different. (larger on the CRF's) But many motor parts are the same or interchangeable. Fork parts can be mixed ans matched. Footpegs like you said. With a certain amount of creativity you can mount the 10 inch spoked wheels but I like the look of the steel 8 inchers. And I bet you intake manifold is neither bent, nor rusted.

I just got done building an XR50 out of a Z50R in worse shape than yours. I paid 180 for the complete running bike... so you are better off than I was. Grab a stock crf50 frame, swingarm, shock, and fork uppers. You can slide the Z50R legs in the CRF/XR50 fork uppers. You will need an XR/CRF front axle.
