| Project girlfriend build CT70
Me and the GF have been together over 8 years and I've always said I was going to build her a bike. Every time I finish one she says "I still never got my pink one". One time I got as far as buying pink plastics and seat for a CRF50 but that's about it. The bikes going to be a budget build for sure. I plan on using alot of new China parts and obviously looks will be a big part of it. I'm sure she will look at it alot more than actually ride it. I have a complete set of purple graphics already so I'm thinking about going that direction with it. Any ideas? imputs? suggestions on parts? |

Good time to be, if not pessimistic, at least practical (not to say you aren't already). Try and build something she'll think is neat, but which you can get use out of if she ends up not being that into it. I redid my wife's old college 10-speed last year to be sort of a vintage-cool 5-speed cruiser. For her birthday. She said, "Oh, cool" and has ridden it maybe three times since then. I've been saying the '74 Z in my garage will come together to be her bike, but really it's probably going to be my other bike which she rides every once in awhile. I guess two-wheeled things just aren't as big a deal to her. But hey, man, far be it for me to discourage you from building yourself a pink bike. That's cool, sure. Pink doesn't just scream "unicorn" and "glittery heart sticker" and "my little pony." It also says "oxford shirt," "membership at the country club" and "wall street." You could always lean it more that way. Just think of it as "red, with a little white added in." A light sort of red. |

Build a replica of a Lady Dax for her. Doesn't need to be spot on, and won't be too gurly for you to ride when she doesn't. There are replica seats available and badges I believe. ![]() Otherwise, just give in and go Pink. Get some Hello Kitty stickers so it keeps a Japanese theme . . . |
