| rebuild stock z50 carb
Anyone know where i can find a rebuild kit for a stock 91 z50r carb? my z idles like crap and i'm pretty sure the float valve is gummed up. when i first put the fuel tank back on the gas poured straight through the carb and out the overflow hose. also the o-ring on bottom needle is torn and needs to be replaced. If anyone has a cheap replacement carb i might be into that as well. |

If u can't find one just get a pz19 carb. they are really good for 50's. I don't know if you want the whole bike stock though. YOu can get the pz's off of ebay but you will just have to do a search for a xr50 carb and look at the pics. Some will say pz19 on the side. that is what u want. Good luck. |

thanks I'll look into that. Is the pz19 a direct bolt in replacement or will I have to rejet or anything?

I think it should bolt right on. I don't hink you will have to rejet, but I am not sure.

Get a CRF50 carburetor. They are the same design. Don't worry about the crappy fixed needles or stupid air screws. You can swap those out from the Z carburetor. The stock CRF carbs are really cheap. Direct swap. Better in some cases depending on your carb. And it's newer so chances are it'll be fine. When you get it, take it apart, then soak it in gasoline overnight. Then dry it. Then use spray carb cleaner, then dry it again. Put it all back together. Adjust the air screw to 1.5 turns out from seated, throw the idle screw in somewhere. Better to make it high. Once you start up the bike, adjust the idle to wherever you like it.
