Red Baron has officially lost their mind!

I'm apologizing in advance for this post, but I've just lost all respect for Red Baron in the US mini market.

Red Baron released the ugliest bike I've ever seen to pay homage to the 1986 Z50 Chrome special.

http://www.redbaronracing.net/pdf/rb..._sellsheet.pdf

Not only is that the ugliest CRF50 ever made, I will officially make fun of anyone who purchases this bike for the price tag they are offering.

The 1986 Chrome special Z50 is the most collectible Z50R (1979 and newer) made for the US market and is in a class by itself.

If you want to purchase a chrome special, purchase a chrome special. If you want a CRF50, purchase a CRF50, but to mix the two is complete blasphemy.

That bike goes on the PM wall of shame for sure.

Fiddy of the Month

you can get the real deal 86 Z50RD (A real collectors bike) for less then that.

I really have to wonder if they have sold any of those commemorative things. It really is funny what people spend their money on. for that price tag it better come with more then just plasti krome on the plastics, and fancy red grips. lol

Its kinda a cool idea I think, but they did a really crappy job on it. they should have done it with Z wheels, and an actual honda sticker on the shrouds rather than a red baron one... I like the round front # plate I already bought one for my CRF

Z88r you need to calm down. Who cares its just a bike. You shouldn't loose your respect for a company just becuase they came out with something ugly. I don't even have red barron parts, your just being rediculous. And if someone likes it and they buy it, dont make fun of them. I think z50's or whatever kind of bike you have is ugly but I don't make fun of you. A just lost a little respect for this site.

It's all a matter of opinion and I don't expect you to understand if you aren't a true Z50 enthusiast. If you look through the Z50 forums earlier this year, Honda of Japan made a 40th anniversary Honda Monkey Limited edition that was by far the worst limited edition they have made to date and pretty much was a parts bin special.

The 1997 30th anniversary Honda Monkey was tastefully done patterned off the 1967 Z50M and sold well in Japan. The 40th anniversary model is not selling well and was not thought out before released and this was done by Honda of Japan, not a US vendor who has no idea of true Z50 heritage.

If someone wants to do a heritage edition of the Z50, it needs to be done on the first model offered in the USA, the 1968 Honda Z50 K0. Keep in mind folks, if the Z50 wasn't so popular over the years, there would be no CRF50.

Fiddy of the Month

That is away to much money for that bike. Like reynolds_brad said, you could probably get (2) 1986 Z50RD Chromies for that.

I don't like it at all. Voice your opinions but don't bash other people. Bash the company or the bike. I hate it. It's ugly. And I totally agree. Why would anyone pay more for a copy of a bike? Hmm. I can get the real 1986 Z50RD for about $2000-$3000 in near-perfect to perfect condition. Or I can pay twice that and get some stupid copy with chromed plastic that will chip off if I give it the slightest bend. And it's a CRF50. Why would they insult the Z by putting it's graphics on the CRF? Reminds be of one day I saw a Ford Fiesta driving down the road. Had the a red paint job that looked like it was done by a kindergarten art class. And it had all sorts of Ferrari stickers on it and some rigged up coffee can for an exhaust.

Almost 5k for a mono swinger, +1 frame, +1 stock fork, 88cc kit, fox shock, and more chrome than a custom chopper. Even if you really liked it, that is just ridiculus pricing.

OH yeah, and it is NOT a Z50!!!

Of course we would still welcome you, it would be your bike, with your tastes and personality. Not some piece of junk branded as a "commemoration" to a truly classic piece of mini history. As far as i see it, its the same as saying a chinese swingarm (just as a reference here i dont want to start anything) is a celebration of kitaco engineering.
Not to mention the price, i mean c'mon that price is incomprehensible, for that price you should get a lifetimes free service directly from Red Barons chief engineer and mechanic. (well not quite but you know what i mean)

Edit: my god i just noticed the seat cover, shame shame shame

Yes its ugly and way over priced, but what are you going to do.
I saw this on xr50.com and thought someone did a better job for a retro bike.

The Red Baron is way overpriced! I do like the one from xr50.com though, wonder what it costs?
