Removal of swingarm bushings

Hey everybody, im from Australia and have a 1980 z50j. I am in the process of doing it up, I have decided to powder coat the frame and a few other bits. I having a bit of trouble removing the swingarm bushings, what is the best or easiest way of getting these things out.

Here are a few pics, of the swingarm and the bushings.

A couple sockets the right size and a bench vise to press them out. Worked on mine.

If your going the cheap way and dont want to buy a bearing puller. Go to walmart and get a cheap torch (10 at the most i think) Heat up the swingarm around the bearings and use a socket and tap it with a hammer like RB said. Heating up the swingarm will expand the metal and the bearing should come out pretty easy. I would get some new bearing for sure sense you have them out already

I had a really hard time getting the bushings out of my stock 70 swingarm. I first took a hacksaw and cut it from the middle to the outside making sure I didn't cut the swingarm. Then I found a washer that was the right size and bashed it out which would have been easier with a vice.

Hey Guys,

just a update on how I got them out in the end, below are a few pics. Ended up going to my grandfathers to use his press, we had to make a few blocks to support it all, but it all worked well in the end.

Thanks for all the advice guys, hopefully this will help somebody else when they come to this same problem.

And this is my grandfather and the train he is building.

sorry he desnt have a website he is really getting old, I think he is 85 so we really have not got him into the whole internet thing. I should make one for him one day. Here is the website to the local club in Melbourne, Australia. http://www.bhmsrs.org.au/ Its a bit sad because there are no young people there and they are all getting pretty old.
