Rotating Manifold

I have a very limited amount of space to work in and I needed a solution that would allow me to angle my carb precisely where I needed it to go. So, I bought one of those rotating manifolds out of Thailand that are sold on eBay. I would have preferred the rotating G-Craft manifold of course, but I was being a cheapskate and didn't feel like waiting a month for delivery.

Anyway, another bad decision that only serves to strengthen the old, 'you get what you pay for' adage. After only 3 rides, this is what happened:

Re: Rotating Manifold

I've done OK by slotting the mount holes in a regular one, if you only need a couple degrees. You can check alignment with the intake valve out. A little more work. Or maybe not...

Re: Rotating Manifold

Buy the BBR rotating version. That's what I run. Look at my thread "another project I don't need" to see pictures of it.

Re: Rotating Manifold

I'm not sure what your set-up is. This one works very well with a Mikuni VM26 on a larger displaced motor with a BVH. It will rotate 360 degrees as needed.

Re: Rotating Manifold

^^^^^that's the one I run and it is a great piece. If you can do without the g-craft bling, this is the next best thing.

Same here I run the bbr. Question to you fatcaat. It does not seem like i got a leak around the swivel but dust collects around there like there is a leak and the dust is sticking to it. Have you experienced the samething?

Re: Rotating Manifold

You can get one from akunar for like 5 bucks. Check their site. And if terry's making an order soon, it will be here alot sooner.

I haven't run it enough to determine this yet. You could spray some ether around the thing while its running and see if the rpms change.

Re: Rotating Manifold

The bbr manifold is the best design by far. You can rotate the carb directly over the mount which looks to be a bit of a pain with the g-craft. The akunar one is pretty weak if you ask me, 90 degree silicone coupler doesn't look like it would flow well at all.

Just FYI, I am trying to install a PE24 on a C70 Passport with a Takegawa oil cooler. It all needs to fit under the legshield. It is very cramped. What is working for me now is relocating the oil cooler bracket to the bottom two engine studs, running a TB intake with 12 position adaptor and 10mm heat spacer in place. This works fine, but leaves no room for an air filter. So, I am using a Daytona screen that takes up no additional space.

Re: Rotating Manifold

Kitaco 88SE with a TB 51mm stroker for a total of 108cc. It's an '82, CDI model. I think 117 is about as large as I could theoretically go and still be able to use my engine mounted oil cooler. Otherwise, the cooler would interfere with the front fender.
