Re: rust inside gas tank???

Try and get the yamaha stuff, it works better than the Kreem. If the tank doesnt leak DO NOT use the coating crap.

Re: rust inside gas tank???

You can assess the amount of rust in the tank by putting a couple of cups of aquarium gravel in it and shaking it gently. When you pour the gravel out, the amount of loose rust flakes that come out with it will tell you if there's a severe rust problem or not.

Re: rust inside gas tank???

or you can just take it to an automotive shop that fixes car gastanks, they will steamclean it and coat the inside with plastic, quite inexpensive too

Fuel System Restoration-POR-15 Inc.
If there's much rust, the tank is getting thinner. I wouldn't wait for it to start seeping out the seams to save it. POR is easy to use and works better than the Kreem.

Dont ever use Kreem. Ive seen so many of the kreem jobs go bad and a bad kreem job is worse to deal with then rust. the kreem will flake and clog your jets like nothing else. It sucks. and its a pain to get out of a tank to re work properly. I haven't used POR yet myself but i have heard its the best thing on the market out there for internal tank restorations.

Oh man... Brad, that tank is the worst thing i have ever seen... Kreem floaters everywhere. I totally agree with you, say no to Kreem.

You might also try Rustol... It's about $50.00 bucks a quart but you can use the batch multiple times. It's available direct from SUDCO. It will get most, if not all, of the bad stuff out. If it's really bad Rustol it then have a radiator shop boil it out.

Re: rust inside gas tank???

I used the kreem to fix my honda scrambler tank and it worked really well.
you can add a hand full or 2 off bbs in the tank before you add the kreem or whatever(make sure the tank is dry)and shake the take around for a while with the bbs inside,it will beat some of the rust off the tank walls..it helps

Re: rust inside gas tank???

Why would you mess with BB's and spend 50 or 100$ when an auto shop will steam clean the rust out and coat it for 20 bucks
