Sl70 Cylinder Head Rebuild ????

I have a 71 sl70 engine that i am rebuilding. So far a have rebuilt the tranny and clutch, got it bored over .05mm, rebuilt carb, cleaned everything and have it ready to go back together with all new parts; minus the cylinder head.

I have the head torn down and everything is good except the cam journal is worn and scored. Only 1 cam journal is worn, it is the journal on the clutch side of the motor. I know DRATV has a race cam with needle bearings that would work perfect, but i want a stock grind cam. The camshaft that was in this head is in good condition. Also the head has the casting number (M3) by the exhaust port.

What should i do? I dont want to buy a new head, but i would settle for a good used one. Are there any stock grind cams that use needle bearings? Any other options?

Any 6V CT70 head is going to be the same as the SL70 head. Used 6V CT70 heads are cheap and easy to find.

You could turn the end of your cam down for a bearing.

I think you should be able to run a honda passport camshaft. It would be the same grind but have the bearing on the end.

I could turn the end of my cam down and put a bearing on it.

I looked all over for a passport camshaft but i couldnt find anything. I think that would be the easiest way to go and the most reliable because it would use all honda parts. Where can i find one.
