| Speedo woes...not swimwear related
I recently rigged up a mechanical speedometer on my 74 z50 which seemed to be working great. Today I got it up to 50 and the speedo started making a winding sound and maxed out. Later I would ride and it would read accurately up to about 20mph and then max out with the winding sound until I would stop and so on. Anyone have any experience with this? or any input?

broken or worn speedo drive? pop it off and check if there's any wear.

Check your inner cable is not broken, pull it out and oil it.

I lubed everything and eased tension from the cable via a little re-routing and I'm not getting the noise or the maxing anymore. Thanks for the advice, Will ps, visited Jeff @ minigunz yesterday and picked up an exhaust system with the new heat shield...super sano and runs great...pics soon |
