| Stainless Bolts - Use on Rims?
I plan on buying an assortment of Stainless bolts from McMaster for my CT projects. Anyone had trouble (failure) using stainless bolts on the stock rims? I've heard that stainless bolts are much weaker than regular 8.8 bolts. But looking at the site, the 8.8 bolts have a min tensile strength of 116kips while the SS bolts are 100 kips. This doesn't seem to be much of a strength difference for the application? Anything else to watch out for using SS bolts besides a little anti-sieze when installing them? |

as you just pointed out, they aren't that much weaker in tensile but I think the largest loads you'll see on them are in shear, but even then it won't make much difference and I would guess they are much much stronger than they need to be for that application
