| starts on ether...otherwise not
Been through this before but just for sanity's sake, what do you think. I took a carb from a running motor about 8 months ago. I put it on another motor that I had running previously. It has sat for 8 months. This weekend, I tried to get it to run and it just laughed at me. Brand new plug, new gas. Timing's spot on, bright blue spark. A squirt of ether and it fires up pretty easily but won't stay running. I took the carb apart and cleaned it. Changed the jets. Everything looks ok. Still only runs on ether. So, is it the carb or is it a valve? No backfires and the motor ran fine before. I thought I got everything on the carb but I guess it is still possible. Carb the most likely culprit? |

main jet is probably still not clean.....fire it on ether and quickly cover the carbs intake completely with your hand to make the engines vacumn suck fuel through the jets.

I have the carb at home with me, away from the bike. When torn down, both jets were clean as a bean. So, unless there is some gunk in some of the passageways, which there could be, then I don't know what else could be going on.
