still mocking up my hardtail

still in mock up stages but you can kind of start to see where im going with it.
i think im probly going to stick with the stock forks for the moment however i may posably try using fast 50 speed fork legs when funds allow.my next desion that im trying to figger is where to go with the front wheel ive been thinking about trying to somehow use a spoked front wheel but a bit undesided on how it would look on the bike and allso what i would use and how i would go about it.im allso thinking of changing the location of the rear wheel brakets to lower the rear end down as im using the g craft 10x4 on the rear anyways heres a few pics of it sory for the crap quality.

Very cool idea. SO why not use a matching front wheel? Should be a fun bobber monkey

its just a idea but run a xr/crf hub and rim, then it will have that bobber style to it. Powder coat it or anodize it and it should look pretty sweet.

btw i really like the shifter set up thats sick.

cheers yea the g craft stuf is real top class stuf i was thinking of posably using a crf front hub and then a nice ali rim that i could polish to match the rear but wasnt shore if a speedo drive thing to work with it.i may have to rob my crf and get a tire to see what it would look like on the front

Hey Charlie, you can use a stock width front and have it be a matching g-craft. Either way, very cool project.

Speed forks? i hope you know that your going to have to mod the triples. the stem in the speed fork triples is too short for the head tube of a hard tail. Plus you will be limited to the narrow rim design of a CRF. It will look pretty unbalenced with a HUGE rear and a pinner front. Unless you intend to make a custom set of triples.

I also hope you have a offset front sprocket as you will need it to clear the rim and tire. Only other way would be to offset the whole rear wheel by 7mm.

Cool project. Keep us posted on your progress,

i found some monkey bike trees that will fit the speed fork legs so teoreticaly it should be prity much a straight fit allowing a monkey width wheel to fit in the front if i deside to go that way but as i said i think that will be some time in the future as its fairly pricey so to start with im just goinging to refurb the stock forks.as for the sproket im just trying to sort a rear hub and find out how its all going to line up then just figer the best way to get it all alined but it shouldnt be to biger deal hopfully.

Pretty sure you will still have to press out the stem of those monkey bike triples and press in a longer one. the monkey bike triples are still made for a shorter head tube then the older hardtails have.

I just got a longer head tube triple set from a late model NSR 50 to work on my hard tail frame. I just need to change the lock to lock now and they should work.

i think youve read my mind i was defo going to do twin pipes with the fish tails and i was looking in to how i could come up with a springer front end but havnt realy got all the tools to fabricate one but may look into it one i have it runing with the stock forks for a while, its so hard even to deside what style id even go for as there are just so many diferent setup if you have any sugestion just let me know.i desided today i think im going to go for anuther thiner gcraft front wheel then maybe get a bit of a diferent center machined up for it to maybe even give it a spoked feel.i looked in to using a crf wheel but the hubs are so big it would just look rong.
i have been questioning these forks for a while but couldnt deside if the looked ok or not?

I think those springers could be made to work if you spaced them up int he tripples and cut down what was sticking out the top. Stock they might look a little long and choppered out for a hardtail Z.

Ive heard some of the guys over seas that have adapted tripples from other bikes then to fix the steering tube/stem issue they get a aftermarket set for a CT70 which is SUPER long and press it out then cut it down some and press it in the set of triples they intend to use for the hardtail.
